2 99% of GES 3 rd graders use the internet outside of school.

4 42% of GES 3 rd graders use technology more than an hour a day (not including TV time).

6 57% of GES 3 rd graders play a video game that is rated M* for Mature (17+). *Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and Halo all have an M rating from ESRB; Five Nights at Freddy’s is not ESRB rated, but gaming companies liken it to M rated games and suggest a mature audience.

8 49% of GES 3 rd graders communicate online with someone they don’t know (playing online video games, following on instagram, etc.).

9 23% of GES 3 rd graders report having no rules for using the internet outside of school.

10 62% of GES 3 rd graders have used the internet without their parents’ knowledge.

11 10% of GES 3 rd graders report that they have been asked to meet in person by someone online; 9% state that they have actually gone to meet up with someone who they met online.

12 23% of GES 3 rd graders admit to visiting a website that their parents would not approve of.

13 32% of GES 3 rd graders have said something mean about someone and/or had something mean said about them online.

14 57% of GES 3 rd graders feel safe with strangers online, stating that it’s ok to talk to them and/or they trust them.

15 37% of GES 3 rd graders admit to doing something online they don’t want their parents to know about.

16 8% of GES 3 rd graders would share information as sensitive as their street address and/or phone number online.
