Individual writing activity Give a sheet of paper to each person. Do not write your name on it. Choose 4 of the 12 powerful words and write them on the paper and write the definition to each of the 4 words. Choose 1 of the 4 words you choose. Use the word in: 1. a sentence 2.write the definition for that word 3.come up with an antonym 4.synonym for the word 5.Draw a picture that represents that word Fold the paper in half (hamburger or hotdog style, your choice) and I will collect it from you when you done all steps listed.

Individual writing activity cont. You will be receiving someone else’s paper that has the 4 vocabulary words that we just completed. Please make sure that you do not receive your own paper. If you do please let me know right away. Next you will be writing a story based on the 4 vocabulary words you received and the sentence that was provided.

Individual Writing Activity Checklist Your requirements for this activity: 1.Write a rough draft of the story 2.Use all 4 words within the story 3.Use the provided sentence within the story 4.Use the antonym or synonym provided somewhere in the story 5.Story needs to be at least one page long typed 6.Font used is to be Times New Roman 7.Font size 12 8.Double spaced 9.Title of the story must be there as well. 10.Use a hook to engage the reader 11.Turn in the typed, final copy along with the rough draft

Team Activity This is a graded assignment Teams are groups of 4-6 Create a vocabulary game based on the 12 powerful words within your team All group members need to participate – no hogs and logs Needs to be school appropriate Use resources from around the classroom or home – meaning, do not spend any money Provide the rules and directions on how to play – typed Must be tested - team must play the game before finalizing (publishing game)
