2 Who vs Whom Who is used as a subject. Whom is used as an object. Who and whom are both considered pronouns because they stand in place of the noun that would be the person’s name. The subject (who) is what is doing the action. The object (whom) is what is receiving the object. Ex. Who went to the store? EX. Frank gave whom the credit card?

3 Who Vs Whom An easy way to figure out whether or not the pronoun is the subject or object, is to replace the “Who” or “whom” with a made up name. For example: “Whom/Who did she ignore?“She did ignore Joe.” Now it’s more obvious that she is the subject, so whom is the object. Another tip is to replace the who/whom with he/him. If it feels more natural to say he, then your answer is who. If it seems more natural to say him, then your pronoun is whom.
