2 About ACCES Employment For nearly 30 years, ACCES Employment has provided services and programs to job seekers and new Canadians. Across our five GTA locations, we have established over 1000 employer relationships from a variety of sectors and industries. We have developed expertise in the engineering, finance, human resources, information technology, sales and marketing and supply chain sectors.

3 Supporting Diverse Job Seekers Our job seekers are highly diverse, we specialize in serving newcomers.

4 Sector-Specific Training Does not duplicate existing education but provides Canadian context and knowledge. Job Search Support Customized individual supports for each client with staff who are knowledgeable in specific sectors Business Communications Supports newcomers with learning about Canadian workplaces and business communication style. Connections to Employers Speed Mentoring®, recruitment events, advisory committees, guest speakers ensure programs are relevant to employers. Bridging Program Model

5 Program Overview Canadian Employment Connections is an 8-week online program that provides sector-specific training and job search services to newcomers as they prepare to immigrate to Canada. The program brings together ACCES Employment’s expertise and employer connections in the following sectors: Engineering Financial Services Human Resources Information Technology Sales and Marketing Supply Chain How does it work? Through ‘virtual’ services and an innovative online platform, the program guides participants through several learning stages to prepare them for Canadian workplaces. They are supported through the following learning areas via modular training and one-to-one support from the program team: Job Search Skills Workplace Communication and Business Communication Sector-Specific Training Connections to Employers (mentors and events)

6 Referral Process International Referral Partners (Planning for Canada, S.U.C.C.E.S.S, WES, Career Edge) Canadian Employment Connections (Information and Orientation Level) Canadian Employment Connections (Full Online Program) Landing outside of GTA – Referral to additional supports across Canada Landing in GTA – Referral to ACCES programs or other supports Pre-arrival (not yet in Canada) Arrival in Canada

7 Eligibility Within 8 weeks to 3 months of arrival – able to complete the program within 8 weeks (prior to landing in Canada) Authorized to immigrate to Canada: pre-arrival status Minimum 2 years of experience in one of the six sectors served by the program English fluency

8 Online Platform and LMS Online Platform - Interface with Clients (Joomla/website) Includes: client intake, service plan, resume, job bank, client interface with Employment Consultant and Job Developer, assignment of curriculum Learning Management System (Moodle) Curriculum and Course Assignment, serves as online library to house material, track progress and interface for learning (discussion boards, groups etc.) Online Modules and Other Content (Storyline, webinars, online videos) Interactive modules for each curriculum piece developed using Storyline. Content will also be presented using live or recorded webinars and online videos.

9 Full Program (8 weeks) Week 1: Job Search Modules o Opportunities in the Job Market: Researching; Networking; and, Informational Interviews o Preparing for an Interview o Building a Powerful LinkedIn Profile o Job Trends in Canada: Understanding the Labour Market (sector-specific) Week 2 & 3: Sector Specific Modules o Financial Services Module 1 –Overview of Financial Services Sector in Canada (including sector trends, job trends, labour market information) o Financial Services Module 2 - Customer Service in Financial Services Week 4 to 8: Workplace Communication Modules o Workplace Culture in Canada – Introduction o Workplace Communication – Business Communications o Workplace Communication – In the Workplace (Teamwork/Relationship Management) o Workplace Communication – Performance Management Conventions o Workplace Communication – Public Speaking and Professional Presentations o Workplace Communication and Financial Services (sector-specific) Online Curriculum Overview Information and Orientation Introductory Module 20 minute sector overview Resume and Job Search Module Preparation: Building Your Brand Workshop video modules Networking for Your Job Search Preparing for Interviews Business Communication
