2 2 The Main Idea As Captain and Co-Captain of last year’s CHSC Relay team, Karine and I learned what it takes to run a successful Relay for Life team It is a lot of work and in order to have a stronger presence at Relay this year it is important to start preparing now The idea is to delegate the responsibilities and give you the guidance to be an independent Relay Team Unit! 2

3 3 Overview Due to the high expressed interest in CHSC's Relay for Life we have developed Relay for Life Captain Officer Position Relay for Life Outreach Chair Relay for Life Treasurer Relay for Life Design Committee Relay for Life Spirit Committee Relay Team Meeting Monday 10/28 6:00-8:00 Library West Study Room 230 The Captain of the Relay Team will also be a CHSC Officer. Officer interviews will be held Sunday Nov. 3rd-Wednesday Nov. 6th. If you are interested in running for the Relay Captain Officer position I highly suggest you attend the Committee meeting. There will be a list for those interested in the Captain Position and your attendance will be taken into account for your interview. The Relay Committee will be a separate branch from the traditional officer positions and the Captain will serve as a representative of the Committee at Officer and General Body Meetings. 3

4 Relay Captain Duties Attend UF’s Relay for Life meetings as representative of CHSC relay team Attend officer meetings as a representative of the relay team Present relay announcements at CHSC meetings Work with and oversee the individual positions and committees of the Relay team including fundraising development, member communication & outreach, morale team, and design team Keep in constant communication with members of board and relay for life committee Set up Online Team Page and keep it up-to-date Day of Event: Make sure all supplies needed from members Arrive early to set up site and stay the entire time In charge of making sure at least one member is walking the entire Make sure you have all paper work BE REALLY ENTHUSIASTIC AND HAVE FUN!

5 5 CHSC Relay for Life Outreach Chair Responsibilities Creating signup genius for members to sign up for hour and overnight shifts Emailing members on the listserv and outreach through the CHSC Facebook page about upcoming signups and Relay opportunities CHSC Member sign-in at Relay 5

6 6 CHSC Relay for Life Treasurer Responsibilities Developing CHSC fundraisers for Relay for Life prior to event Managing money raised at tent during the event Turning in the money raised at event to Relay for Life Keeping a running list of CHSC’s top fundraising members for subsequent awards 6

7 7 CHSC Relay for Life Design Committee Responsibilities Developing a tent theme and activity to raise money at Relay--this position is for the artistically inclined! Camp Decorations and Design Tent set up and tear down 7

8 8 CHSC Relay for Life Spirit Committee Responsibilities Supplying tent snacks for CHSC members (you will be reimbursed through CHSC) Promoting and assisting in costumes for spirit Relay laps Get CREATIVE!! Anything to help boost your teammates’ morale at 5:00 in the morning when everyone is exhausted and cranky 8
