Bacon’s Rebellion - Causes - William Berkeley (royal governor of Virginia) placed heavy taxes on planters - he rewarded wealthiest class - contempt for free press and public education - war between Indians and settlers in Potomac Valley

Bacon’s Rebellion - Effects - Nathaniel Bacon leads a revolt in Jamestown - drove out the governor - burned the town - *poor farmers would not tolerate catering of wealthy - *taxes reduced
