F.E. Courses: Art Foundation (Required by some H.E. design courses) University Courses: B.A. or B.Sc Product Design, B.A. Graphic Design, B.Sc Engineering, B.A. Transport Design, B.A. Interior Design, B.A. Fashion/Textiles, B.A. Media Studies. 3 London born Englishman Jonathan Ive is the most successful designer at He is most famous for inventing and re-inventing the i-pod and i- phone.

The Advanced Innovation Challenge: This is a new and exciting unit set by OCR which requires a student to design and model in a workshop or examination room and complete a workbook and question paper. An example of future ‘themes’ is the 2012 Olympics which has a series of related tasks supported by resources. This is a major change and a response to employers who have been crying out for schools to develop problem solving skills. This unit will give students a chance to explore their creative, practical design and modeling skills

Ozwald Boateng was the first British Savile Row designer to open an American store when he opened his New York Madison Avenue boutique in 2003.

The Product Study: This is an in depth study of a product which consists of product analysis, development, prototype modeling and testing. Students will select a product related to their area of study (Graphics/Product Design/Textiles/Food) and consider aesthetics, ergonomics, function as well as designing with mass manufacture in mind. Students will then produce an improved design for the chosen product.

Design and Technology will be offered at A2 in Graphics, Product Design and in Textiles. The A2 represents the second half of the A Level and students study a further 2 modules: Design, Make and Evaluate Candidates are required to produce a coursework portfolio and product which fully demonstrates their designing, making and evaluation skills, using creativity, flair and innovation. Product Design The subject content of this unit is focused towards products and applications and their analysis in respect of: materials, components and their uses manufacturing processes industrial and commercial practices.

What is design? “Design is everywhere - and that's why looking for a definition may not help you grasp what it is. Design is everywhere. It's what drew you to the last piece of furniture you bought and it's what made online banking possible. It's made London taxi cabs easier to get in and out of and it made Stella McCartney's name. It's driving whole business cultures and making sure environments from hospitals to airports are easier to navigate.”
