What’s New in Word 2013? Editing PDFs, Layout Options, and Alignment Guides Inserting Online Pictures & Videos and Design Tab Bookmarks and Sharing
3
Editing PDFs, Text Wrapping, and Alignment Guides You can Edit PDFs by opening the PDF document in Word 2013. This allows you to edit the content of the PDF similarly to a Word document. Text Wrapping can be selected using the Layout Options button that appears with images. Alignment Guides shows when an object is aligned with wording or other objects.
4
Inserting Online Pictures and Videos and the New Design Tab Online Pictures and Videos can be inserted from the Insert tab. Pictures and videos are located online using the Bing Image or Bing Video Search. The Design Tab allows document formats to be further extended by selecting themes, colors, and fonts to use with them. Combine format settings and use the Set Default Option for all new documents. Preview a document style before applying it to the entire document.
5
Bookmarks and Sharing A Bookmark is placed in the last location you scrolled to when you close a Word document. When the Word document is reopened, a Welcome back! bubble appears to show where you were so you can keep reading in that same location. Share options can be found under the File tab and include inviting people to collaborate, presenting the document online, and posting to a blog.

What’s New in Excel 2013? Start Screen and Flash Fill Quick Analysis and Recommended Charts Chart Tools and Pivot Tables
7
Start Screen and Flash Fill Along the left edge of the Start Screen are most recently used worksheets, any of which can be pinned to the Recent list so they’re always visible. A range of templates also appears to help quick start a project. Flash Fill detects patterns and extracts and enters data that follows a recognizable pattern. First and last names can be easily split into two columns, extract months, days or years from dates, and even extract values from cells, all without using a formula.
8
Quick Analysis and Recommended Charts The Quick Analysis tool helps find options for working with selected data. Selecting a tool provides a series of choices that can then be previewed, which speeds up the process of formatting, charting, and writing formulas. Recommended Charts on the Insert tab will show a subset of chart types that are appropriate for the selected data. Choose from a range of charts and preview how your data will look plotted on that chart.
9
Chart Tools and Recommended Pivot Tables A set of Chart Tools icons appear near the top right edge of a chart when it is selected. Chart Elements will add or remove elements, Chart Styles changes the style or color, and Chart Filter allows you to view filtered data using a live preview. Pivot Tables allow you to analyze and answer questions about your data. Selecting Recommended Pivot Tables from the Insert tab gives you an explanation of what each Pivot Table will show and lets you choose the table that will provide you with what you want to see.

What’s New in PowerPoint 2013? Start Screen, Themes & Variants Presenter View and Merge Shapes Formatting Task Pane and Video & Audio
11
Start Screen, Themes & Variants Along the left edge of the Start Screen are most recently used PowerPoint presentations, any of which can be pinned to the Recent list so they’re always visible. You can also search online for templates from the Start Screen. Themes are predesigned slides and Variants provide options in color and design elements for a Theme. Themes default to a 16:9 aspect ratio and each has a small subset of Variants that can be previewed.
12
Presenter View and Merge Shapes Access Presenter View by starting a slide show with dual monitors or by pressing Alt + F5 with a single monitor. There are three resizable panes, a timer, laser pointer and pen tool, zoom options, and a black out slide. Merge Shapes can be found under Drawing Tools on the Format tab. Create custom shapes by combining and merging simple shapes to make more complex ones.
13
Formatting Task Pane and Video & Audio The Formatting Task Pane is accessed by right-clicking an object and choosing Format Shape. While most options are not new, it makes them easier to find. However, the Eyedropper tool is new and allows you to match colors when making a color choice. More Video formats are supported, including.mp4 and.mov, and presentations can be exported to video in.mp4 or.wmv formats. There is a wider range of supported Audio formats, and with the click of a button you can play audio tracks across the entire slideshow or individual slides.

What’s New in Outlook 2013? Message List Commands and Calendar Message Preview and Navigation Options Attachments and Improved Search
15
Message List Commands and Calendar Message List Commands allow for quick action. Flag, delete, or mark messages as read or unread. The All and Unread options allows you to focus on only the messages you want. 16
Message Preview and Navigation Options Message Preview, accessible in the View tab, lets you choose to preview one, two, or three lines of the message inside the Inbox. Previously, you had to open the email or use the Preview Pane to see the actual contents. Navigation Options allows you to change the number of visible items at the bottom left of the Outlook screen. Compact Navigation removes the Navigation Bar and lists the items at the bottom of the Folder Pane.

Attachments and Improved Search Prevent forgotten Attachments. When you refer to an attachment in the body of an email and click the Send button without adding an attachment, the Attachment Reminder window opens. What is Lync 2013? Lync is a communications platform with the following features: Presence Instant Messaging Video Call/Conference Meetings Sharing and Collaboration
23
Presence Presence indicates to others your real-time availability based on your Outlook calendar. You can also manually change your Presence status using the availability menu. It allows others to determine an appropriate time to contact you and which method of communication makes most sense at that time. Status options include Available, Be Right Back, Away, Off Work, Busy, In a Call, In a Meeting, Do Not Disturb, Presenting, and Offline.
24
Instant Messaging and Video Call/Conference Instant Messaging is a text only communication method for fast and easy discussions. Instant Messaging conversations are saved automatically to a folder in Outlook so that you can search or reference them at any time. A Video Call includes both voice and video so that both parties can see and hear each other. If more than two people are involved in a Video Conference, Lync automatically detects who is actively speaking and displays that person’s video.
25
Meetings Meetings are events that can be scheduled or unscheduled. Each meeting takes place in a Meeting Space which is identified by a unique URL. Meetings can be recorded and shared with others directly or even posted for download to a web site. In a meeting, the meeting organizer has the ability to control who can share content. Custom permissions can be created for meetings controlling who can access them and present content.
26
Sharing and Collaboration Share a PowerPoint or your screen, or Collaborate on a whiteboard. Display your entire desktop or just share a specific program that is open. You can also send a poll to participants in a meeting and collect their responses. Drag and drop a file into a Lync conversation window or use the Add Attachments option. Lync automatically creates a OneNote page on which you can take notes and then make accessible to all participants of a meeting.
