Chromosomes 1.Chromosomes are thread-like structures in the nucleus of all the cells in an idividual. The number of chromosomes varies from species to species. 2. Chromosomes are made up of deoxyribose nucleic acid (DNA for short) and protein. 3.Human cells each contain 46 chromosomes(23 Homologous pair) 4. A homologous pair carries the same set of genes. One inherited from the mother and the other from the father

Genes 1.A single chromosome carries the information for a large number of characteristics. 2.The section of a chromosome which carries the information for any one characteristic is called a Gene. 3.Genes are lengths of a DNA molecule whch code for a characteristic
