LT- Today, I can apply my observation and inference skills to determine the relationship of chromosomes, DNA, and genes by analyzing diagrams and citing information from texts. How do chromosomes, DNA, and genes relate? Do Now- What do you already know about chromosomes?

Chromosome, DNA and Genes Summary Chromosomes come in pairs One from each parent There are dark and light bands on the chromosomes These are different genes(example: eye color, nose shape, etc.) Chromosomes are different lengths There are a different number of genes on different chromosomes and genes vary in size.
6
Different species have a different number of chromosomes Because they do not look exactly the same, there are different genes in their makeup There is an X and Y Chromosome These are the sex chromosomes (XX=girl, XY= boy)

1.The genetic material if found in the nucleus of the cells. 2.A chromosome is a neatly packaged DNA strand. 3.DNA is made up of many genes. 4.Genes are made up of (nitrogen) bases.
8
Chromosome- Neatly packaged DNA strand. There is one DNA strand in a chromosome. DNA- DNA molecules contain genes which direct how an organism’s body is built and maintained. Gene- Different genes determine your traits.
