3 SWIFT Alliance family Overview
Integration SWIFT Integration Layer IPLA Alliance Messaging Hub Alliance Access Interface AllianceLite 2 Alliance Gateway / Alliance Remote Gateway Alliance Gateway Other Gateway Connectivity SWIFT has a broad portfolio of connectivity options, providing users different alternatives for connecting to SWIFT, according to each users’ needs. For Low Volume Users, there is Alliance Lite2 Alliance Lite2 provides a secure, cloud-based connection to the SWIFT network, and related applications and services. Easy to use, cost-effective and reliable, it allows customers to exchange all SWIFT messages and file types and use secure Browse services from SWIFT and market infrastructures. As a cloud service, Alliance Lite2 requires limited upfront investment and minimal equipment at customer premises. It supports the message and file volume needs of most new SWIFT customers. Alliance Lite2 meets the needs of all types of SWIFT customers, including banks, corporates, investment and funds managers, broker/dealers. To expand customer choice, it is also available via selected Application Service Providers. Lite2 enables customers to: Connect to SWIFT with little upfront investment Minimise operational costs and overhead Connect directly to SWIFT without using a third party Maintain SWIFT infrastructure at your site SWIFT Integration Layer (SIL) SWIFT Integration Layer (SIL) is a thin yet powerful integration component that captures message flows from the back-office environment, whatever format they are sent in. SIL translates the data into SWIFT’s FIN and ISO2002 or FileAct formats, as required. It also provides a set of Business Applications to facilitate corporate connectivity or to manage TARGET2Securities flows, and it connects to both AllianceLite2 and Alliance Access. For Mid Volume Users, there is Alliance Access. With more than 2,000 installations worldwide, Alliance Access is SWIFT’s prime messaging interface. It enables customers to connect to SWIFT in order to access financial messaging and additional SWIFT services. Alliance Access is a multi-platform interface that enables customers to connect single or multiple destinations to SWIFT to achieve maximum automation of system management tasks. With a 20 year track-record, Alliance Access offers tried, tested and trusted technology, while its continuous enhancements make it a reliable choice for the future. Alliance Access is suitable for customers with medium to high volume requirements for financial messaging. Alliance Access Integration Platform (IPLA) Alliance Access Integration Platform (IPLA) is an integration platform which runs inside Alliance Access. It connects customer’s back office systems to the SWIFT network and enables different system types to interact together. It handles multiple messaging formats and can contact other systems for data validation and enrichment, providing seamless, efficient and cost-effective access to SWIFT and to other value added services, while allowing overall IT system flexibility. Alliance Remote Gateway Alliance Remote Gateway is a new cloud service that lets you connect Alliance Access directly to the SWIFT network without needing to operate your own Alliance Gateway, SWIFTNet Link or Hardware Security Modules (HSMs). Letting SWIFT manage these technical components enables you to focus on your core business and reduces your total cost of ownership (TCO) for messaging-related activities. A subscription-based service, Alliance Remote Gateway supports all Alliance Access and Alliance Entry flows, and all FIN and InterAct messages and FileAct files. For High Volume Users, we have Alliance Messaging Hub (AMH) AMH is a flexible, multi-network, high-volume financial messaging solution. It is most suited to organisations with complex integration requirements such as larger financial institutions. It is ideal for those who are looking for a highly available, customisable and scalable platform to meet their operational requirements. AMH technology can handle financial transaction messages for various networks in parallel, supporting extensive throughput combined with sophisticated data management. With its variety of network adapters, its Business Process Management (BPM) tool, and open standards support, AMH seamlessly routes between different messaging services. The end result is higher straight-through-processing rates with increased agility and efficiency. Low Customization Mid Customization High Customization Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

SWIFT software migration paths will be based on injecting data from existing versions into a 7.2 release version installed on a different server with new OS version. Applies to: Alliance Access/Entry, Gateway, Web Platform and SNL Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

34 Release 7.2 impact points: Operating System versions – client side
Windows 7 Windows 8.1 Release 7.2 Windows 10 Browser versions supported will be communicated in June 2016 Main message: Share concerns with product management. Final decisions will be communicated in June 2016 (Final release overview). We really plan to only qualify on Windows 10 desktop, which might be a challenge to the community. As all GUIs are browser based. Browser availability will be more important than the Windows version. For sure we will not support older versions than IE 11. Extended support for Windows 7 ends in 2020, mainstream support ends in 2015 Extended support for Windows 8.1 ends in 2023, mainstream support ends in 2018 Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 8,9,10 in January 2016. Internet explorer 11 was also shipped with Windows 10 and as such is expected to be in Mainstream support till 2020 and extended support till 2025. Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

35 Release 7.2 impact points: What does this mean for my hardware
Consider hardware replacement if Consider hardware re-use if It has not been refreshed since release 7.0 Normal usage moves CPU usage and/or memory usage significantly over 60% Hardware provider will not support the hardware on the new OS levels You plan significant business growth You plan to go from bare-metal to virtualization It is less than 2 years old Normal usage needs less than 30% of CPU and memory Hardware is explicitly supported by new OS levels Message volumes are declining Main message: In theory no hardware replacement is required for any platform. All current hardware is already 64-bit. Company policies will drive the decision as well (e.g. Internal mandate to use new hardware for mandatory upgrades) For customers who want to know what hardware they have to budget for, our best suggestion is: budget the same amount than what you invested for your current infrastructure. That same amount will buy you the systems that are capable of handling the increase natural volume growth, and the changed needs for OS, database and application. Reference hardware will be provided when software is released Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

Early August 2014, Microsoft announced that it would end support for Internet Explorer versions prior to IE 11 as of 12 January 2016 While Internet Explorer 11 has a whole set of new tools to better support web pages designed for earlier versions, this means a significant impact to most of the SWIFT community. 43 Integrating your back office with SWIFT… Sounds easy ?
Interfaces Messaging services A secure network Applications Reference data Standards A typical integration project requires expert knowledge in various domains, You need to know how the various applications can communicate with each other, securely, over the network. And you need to know how the logic of the message flow works, in terms of messaging service and the standards that are used, As well as how reference data needs to be queried. Connecting your back office to SWIFT can be very complex and requires specific expertise Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

44 Appropriate integration poduct
SWIFT’s approach to integration Services and products Services Appropriate integration poduct Our approach consists of a combination of services and the appropriate integration product, should an integraton product be required. And you see on the picture that both go hand in hand and that the services part is the bigger component. What the Services are exactly composed of, we’ll see next. Now, we offer and end-to-end solution and will always start by listening to the needs of the customer to assess how we can help and collaborate. From experience, we can say that an important part of the success of delivering an integration project efficiently is the collaboration with the customer where we bring together the knowledge from both sides, the customer and SWIFT. Combining services and the appropriate integration product to offer a true end-to-end solution Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

47 Integration Platform Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

48 Integration Platform Any format Custom adapters
Alliance Access Adapters AFT MT/MX/FileAct SOAP FIN/MX/FileAct MQHA MT/MX/FileAct SAA Integration Platform Any format Custom adapters Direct FileAct FileAct To communicate with Alliance Access, you must know what kind of adapters are available on [Click] SAA: [Click] AFT, Auto File Transfer, the most popular adapter used by SWIFT users. It’s quite simple, your back-office system generate SWIFT messages in file and puts them in a folder of Alliance Access. After several minutes, SAA will scan the folder and send the file out. The same for incoming flow. However, this method also has quite ahigh risk. Since the files will be stored at the folder for several minutes, someone can manipulate, delete or even put a fake message. And since it’s on the Operating system level, you have no log of who did what on that folder. So a lot of customers move to real-time solution when their volume increase. The Real-time solution, means that your message will no longer be located in a folder for several minutes . Once your back-office created the message, it will be sent to Alliance Access immediately. [Click] on Alliance Access, you can have 2 real time adapters MQHA and [Click] SOAP, For MQHA, your back-office systems communicate with Alliance Access via IBM websphere MQ, the messaging middleware. Once your back-office generate a message, it is sent to a MQ queue and then passed to Alliance Access. So you don’t have the risk of someone changing/deleting the messages like in AFT mode. To implement this option, you must have an IBM websphere MQ license If you don’t want to pay additional IBM websphere MQ license fee, and you also want to use the real-time solution, you can choose SOAP adapter which is based on Web Services. You can communicate with Alliance Access via web and you don’t need to buy any 3rd party software. [Click] on Alliance Access, we also have a dedicate FileAct adapter: Direct FileAct. But why another fileact adapter,, when AFT, MQHA and SOAP already support FileAct? For other 3 adapters, AFT, MQHA, SOAP, when you are handling FileAct, you must provide 2 files: a parameter file and the payload file. Since the FileAct could be any format, Alliance Access will not know the sender/receiver. You must put all these information in a parameter file. To simplify the work of FileAct handling, we provide the Direct FileAct adapter, you configure all the parameters in Alliance Access, and you put a payload file to a specific folder, Alliance Access pick-up and attach the parameters you configured to the FileAct message and sends it out. So your back office system only need to send the Payload file . Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

58 Business Process Analysis
SWIFT Services Across project lifecycle Business Advisory Market Analysis Business Process Analysis Technical Analysis Solution Design Develop Integrate Test Certify Deploy Manage Obtain Insights Project Management Managed Services Support Training Technical Advisory SWIFT offers a comprehensive series of services across the project lifecycle. At the early phases, we offer Business advisory services, which help you to gather insights, perform market analysis or review existing processes. After that we offer technical advisory services to perform technical analysis and solution design. During the complete implementation phase, we have a series of installation, configuration, integration and project management services. Depending on your project, you can pick and choose which components (some or all) you require for your project. Implementation Alliance products Portfolio - ARC 2016

59 Zooming in on the Integration part
Across project lifecycle Knowledge transfer and formal training Functional Analysis Technical Design Development Test Go Live Care Project management Advise on appropriate integration product and required effort So let’s look at a project lifecycle. A customer project always starts with a Functional Analyses. This is an objective analysis of the integration requirements, it is essential to make a correct assessment of the complexity of the project, give the right advise on the type of solution and potential integration product and allow to assess the cost of the integration project. The deliverables of this functional analyses include: A Functional description of all required systems, interfaces, business flows, message types and formats within the scope of the project It includes an analysis of the required message flows and where required the needed mappings, validations and transformations 1. High level architecture with advise on the appropriate integration product and the list of the required components that need to be developed The product can be: one of our integration platforms, but also can be Java scripts, tool and connectors from Access, Standards Developers toolKit (SDK) And an estimate of the required effort should SWIFT implement the remainder of the project. The functional analyses itself is a neutral analyses and is very useful for the customer themselves as documentation and as guidance for the continuation of the project. It already indicates how much time will be required, what expertise it takes and at what cost. So it helps you in managing your project constraints. The functional analyses can be used for input on your own planning. Even if you decide to do your own development or go with another provider, it is a part in the project which is required in any case. 2. At this stage we would hope of course that the customer continues his project with us and The next step in the project is the Design where the solution is worked out in more detail. To make sure that all the business and other requirements are translated into technical specifications for the implementation. After the design, we move into the Development and Implementation of the solution. This is more a pure technical activity, whereas the design is in between technical and business requirements. Afterwards testing starts before going live with the new implementation. We can perform all these activities as Consulting Services for you. 3. For the end-to-end project management, we provide a single point of contact during the lifecycle of the project for project related advice and activities. 4. As for training, a natural knowledge transfer will happen during the project and further formal training on aspects of integration or Standards for instance can be delivered as well. 5. After the delivery of the project, we move into the care or support phase.
