2 A slave is someone who is forced to work, who is unpaid, unable to leave and who is controlled by violence or the threat of violence

3 It is said to be the fastest growing criminal industry in the world. Generating billions of dollars by victimising millions of people around the world.

4 It’s estimated that there are 100,000 children in the sex trade in the United States each year.

6 What is the extent of the problem ? Yet slavery is illegal everywhere !

11 He had failed to do his homework. It’s not slavery. It’s cruelty and it went unpunished. Had he been beaten and discovered in the slave trade he would have had a voice!

18 In a recent 12 month period ARGOS commenced proceedings against 117 offenders on 434 charges

19 The POLARIS Project and the Global Human Trafficking Hotlines Network recently asked all members of Rotarians Against Child Slavery to contact local Child Trafficking or helplines etc to request they link up.

20 10 years of data is soon to be released. This is information collected from 126 million contacts in the last decade. The service is a global network of 173 child helplines in 142 Countries which average 14 million contacts a year from children and young people in need of care and protection.

21  Croatia recently joined 116111 Child's Help Line making it the 24 th European country to implement the service. The original stand alone service they had is now used as a parent helpline.

24 The Action Group of Rotarians was formed in 2009 and was approved by the RI Board in 2013. The two main objectives are: Raising awareness: that millions of children are held captive and forced to work for commercial gain. Taking action: by encouraging Rotarians to participate in projects which help to protect children from slavery and its consequences.

25 Examples of projects completed for Rehab/Trafficking Shelters New bus to be used for educational purposes A bio gas oven to provide energy for the kitchen One of the cows to produce the dung for the Bio Gas Oven An open air Gazebo for multi-purpose uses at an Indian girls shelter

27 Solar lamps installed to protect the girls from being seized back by their pimps. Purchase of a vehicle to be used for rescuing victims of slavery A motor bike for the staff to monitor the progress of boys who graduate from the Rehab Centre Tools and equipment for vocational training of the survivors.
