What Makes a Monologue Great? We are going to watch a few monologues from the 1 minute monologue competition in 2011 1 minute monologue competition Note what makes these monologues great – what do you notice about them? The actors? The blocking?

Monologue Planning Guide Using your monologue – please take 10 minutes to write about what you can do to make your monologue great. What have you learned from watching and discussing these great monologue performances? How can you apply it to your own performance? I will be collecting these

Night at the Oscars – Mira Improv game – 7 players One host, three pairs Audience will suggest fictional movie titles (i.e. The Tomato Disaster, The Black Shirt, etc.) Each group will receive a movie title Host will introduce the nominees Each team will perform their improvised nominated scene After all three groups have performed, audience will vote on which wins the academy award Winning group will give a brief acceptance speech
