1 PowerPoint Practice Exercise 1.Save this file on your H drive in Word folder as Practice. 2.Edit each slide according to the instructions provided in the slides in order to learn the skills..

2 Adding and Deleting Slides Slides are added to a presentation by clicking New Slide. New slides are inserted following the current slide. Notice the current slide is highlighted in the left pane. Slides are deleted by selecting them in the left pane and pressing the Delete key to delete it. Try inserting a slide. Right click on the current slide and add New Slide. After inserting a slide move to the next slide by either clicking it in the left pane or pressing the PgDn key.

3 Insert: Picture Click on the Insert tab and select Pictures (not Online Pictures). Insert a Picture of your choice Progress to the next slide

4 Insert: Chart Click on the Insert tab Click the chart button and insert a chart that you like. Change to figures in the Excel sheet to see how it changes the chart. Close the chart table to complete the chart insertion. Progress to the next slide

5 Applying a Design Theme Now we’re crankin’!! Select the Design tab. Select a design of your choice. Select Color Schemes, select drop down arrow in the Variants group, then Color. Change to a color of your choice.

6 Acquiring Graphics from the Web Copy and paste the following link into your Web browser and go to http://www.marionschools.net/fkm http://www.marionschools.net/fkm Right-click and save the Falcon located in the upper left corner of the page. We’ll use this graphic later in the exercise.

7 Editing the Slide Master Changes made to Slide Masters effect all slides of that type in the presentation. View the Slide Master by clicking View then Slide Master under the Master Views group. Add your name to the footer Insert the Falcon image that you saved earlier in the upper right corner of the Slide Master. Go to slide with Falcon, copy and then paste in the Slide Master. Resize the Falcon to make it very small and unobtrusive. Click “Close Master View” on the Slide Master View toolbar. Observe the results on all slides

8 Editing Object Properties: Fill Effects Double click the circle below to select it Drawing Toolbar opens Click the arrow next to Shape Fill to change the color of circle Click the arrow next to Shape Outline and choose a color Click the arrow next to Shape Effects and pick one of the glow effects Go to next slide

9 Editing Object Properties: Transparency Right click the red circle below to select it Click on Format Shape Under Fill use the transparency slides to set the color transparency to 50%

10 Using the Drawing Toolbar Use the options on the Drawing toolbar to adjust the following attributes of the other circle: –Shape Fill –Shape Outline –Shape Effects Shadow Style 3-D Style

11 Adding Text to Shapes Select the any circle below and type the word HELLO. Click outside the circle to exit edit mode. Select the circle again and adjust the Font Color using the Drawing toolbar. Use the Font group to change the font to Comic Sans MS, size 24, bold, black.

12 Adding a Textbox and Arranging Objects Click Insert then Text Box. Click by circle and draw a text box then type HELLO in the box. Use the mouse to select the text then use the Font group to change it to size 54. Click and drag the textbox so that HELLO is placed over the two circles.

13 Lines, Arrows, & WordArt Experiment with the line and arrow in the Illustrations group (shapes) under the Insert tab. Then experiment with WordArt buttons in the Text group under the Insert tab.

14 Rotating and Animating Objects Rotate the star by selecting it, and grabbing the rounded arrow symbol at the top of the star. Select both the moon and star and group them together as one object With the grouped objects selected open the Animations menu, click Add Animation. Select an animation effect (Fly In, Stretch, Wipe, etc). Try out the animation by clicking the Preview button.

15 Slide Transitions Select Transitions tab. Try out the various transition effects. Experiment with Speed and Sound Select bottom right arrow in Transition to This Slide group, choose Random Transition and Apply to All slides under Timing group.
