10 CNM continued The most advanced CNM IP still resides in Japan, but the global and Asian market for advanced products has not developed as rapidly as it has for lower-end products. Thus, China is poised to dominate the demand and the supply of the lower-end CNM products. We believe the global market for CNM will develop on a similar path as the solar cell market. 11 Trend 4: CNM in Lighting Because most CNT manufacturers are feeling extreme pressure from lower-cost basis Chinese suppliers, they are searching for new applications to apply their technology. – Solutions looking for problems One application we see most CNT manufacturers trying to enter is field emission lighting (nanotube cathode). Drivers and Field Emission Display (FED) materials are largely dominated by Taiwan and China, while the most sought after displays are still being developed in Japan and Korea. 13 Miscellaneous comments Asia is buzzing about (1) 3D-IC with integrated MEMS and (2) SiC Power Electronics Korea has great MEMS technology and relatively little CNM.
