1 Mon Oct 29,2012 Warm-Up 10 minutes: 1.Write down the definition of slogan in your journal under todays date. Slogan: is a distinctive phrase, catchword or motto used by political groups and other groups. With your elbow partner see if you know the slogan of these popular companies and answer the following questions. 1.Why did they pick these slogans? 2.What characteristics of their company did they want you to remember? DLG: To describe the early battles fought and and colonists response to deepening conflict. HW: (1) Flipbook due November 2 (2) Chapter 7 section 1 due Wednesday 31st (3) Quiz on Friday using your notes.

4 Tues Oct 30,2012 Warm-Up 10 minutes: 1.Work on your flipbook Class Activities 1.Add to your notes for Chapter 6 section 4 using power point 2.Listen to letter – what are the grievance listed in the letter. 3.DOI chart ; Identify grievances the colonists had with King George III 4.Closing: Do you think the colonists had good reasons to overthrow what they thought was an oppressive government? Explain your opinion. DLG: Summarize Thomas Paine’s Common Sense and how the colonists officially declared their independence. HW: (1) Flipbook due Friday- test grade (2) Chapter 7 sec 1 notes due Thursday (4) Quiz on Friday

5 Wed Oct 31, 2012 Warm-Up 10 minutes -Declaration of Independence: Use your textbook, pages 166-169 to answer the following questions in your journal under today’s date: 1.What is the purpose of the Declaration of Independence as stated in the Preamble? Use text evidence. 2.What are the five main parts of the Declaration? What is the main idea of each part? 3.What are the three rights that all people should have? DLG: Identify characteristics of a slaves life and possible goals after the Emancipation Proclamation. HW: (1)Flipbook due on Friday- Test grade (2) Chapter 7 sec 1 notes due tomorrow(3) Quiz on Friday- use your notes. Be Safe tonight!

Share with your partner and add to Goal list ( big sticky note of paper) 3.Brainstorm on how you can reach your goals? Fill out the right side of your Venn diagram 4.Listen to the story and fill in What Booker did achieve his goal. 5.What similarities does he have with you? 6.Closing: Are you surprised by the similarities? Did Booker give you any ideas? DLG: Identify ways to reach goals and the limitations that you may face.

7 Thurs Nov 1, 21012 Warm-Up 5 minutes: 1. Read the issues presented by Mr. Romney or President Obama- paper copy is on bookshelf and netschool 2. Using SOAPS analyze the issue and share with a student who has the other candidate 3. Class share 4. Add Chapter 7 sec 1 and 2to your journals and activities that are presented Closing: Did reading the issues influence who you would vote for? Justify your answer. DLG: Identify the issues that are facing our country and the plans that the candidates have to address them. HW: (1) Flipbook due tomorrow – test grade (2) Quiz on ch 6 section 3,4 tomorrow – can use your notes

8 Fri Nov 2,2012 Warm-Up 10 minutes: Quiz on chapter 6 section 3,4- Please use your notes Activity: 1.Review quiz 2.Using rubric grade your own flipbook and turn in 3.Structured PAT time- Who Am I? Use pictures and clues to guess Important historical figures. 4.Closing: Who do you think had the most influence on the events that happened before the Revolutionary War? Why? DLG: Show with 85% accuracy mastery of weeks objectives. Identify important historical figures using clues. HW: (1)None- Have a Good Weekend
