SSWH10:What was the impact of the age of discovery and expansion into the Americas, Africa, And Asia? Q. What was the role of explorers and conquistadors, including Zheng He, Vasco Da Gama, Christopher Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, James Cook, and Samuel De Champlain? A. The role of the explorers were to claim Land for their country and find resources that could benefit them by selling the goods for a greater price where it is not available. Q. What did the impact of the Columbian Exchange make globally? A. The Columbian exchange brought different foods animals to different parts of the world. Q. How did improved technology encourage exploration; included the astrolabe? A. Improved technology in Europe encouraged the people to explore to more precise locations. Technology made work easier.

SSWH11: Students will investigate political and social changes in Japan and in china from the seventeenth century (CE) to mid nineteenth century (CE) Statement: Describe the policies of Tokugawa and Qing rulers, include Oda Nobunaga, and Kangxi. A. Oda Nobunaga: The first of three powerful political figures. He seized the imperial capital of Kyoto and placed the reigning shogun under his control. Tokugawa Ieyasu : Took control of Japan. He brought a period of “Great peace.” Kangxi: Ruled 1661 to 1722, was perhaps the greatest of the many strong emperors who ruled China during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Kangxi had a reign of 61 years. Statement: Analyze the impact of the population growth and its impact on the social structure. A. due to rapid growth during the 17 th and the 19 th century, the poverty level was higher than ever.

SSWH12: The students will examine the origins and contributions of the Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal empires. Statement: Describe the geographical extent of the ottoman Empire during the rule of Suleyman the Magnificent, the Safavid Empire during the reign of Shah Abbas I, and the Mughal Empire during the reigns of Babur and Akbar. Each of the empires ruled certain parts of the middle east Statement: Explain the ways in which these Muslim empires influenced religion, law and the arts in their parts of the world. The Muslims influenced religion on people because of the strict policies and influenced the arts because they wanted to glorify their god.

SSWH13: How did the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment change our world? Q. How did Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, and Newton use Science to change our world view? A. These scientists all proved that the earth was not flat and that the earth was not the center of the universe. Q. How did Locke, Voltaire, Rousseau, and Montesquieu change politics and society? A. Each of these leaders and their ideas influenced revolutions.

SSWH14: What happened during the Age of Revolutions and Rebellions? Q. What made Louis XIV, Tsar Peter the Great, Tokugawa Ieyasu an Absolutionists? A. The Divine Right of Kings gave these rulers absolute power over the government and the entire country. Q. What were the causes and results of the revolutions in England, United States, France, Haiti, and Latin America? A. The Revolution of England occurred because Charles I wanted both of his kingdoms to follow one religion. The Revolution of France occurred because the lower class was being treated so unfairly. The Revolution of The United States occurred because of unfair taxes on the colonies. The Revolution Of Haiti occurred because 500,000 Africans slaves were forces to work on French plantations. The Latin America Revolution occurred because they had heard about the enlightenment ideas and were electrified about it. All of the Revolutions were a success but, the Haitian Revolution was extremely bloody. Q. How did Napoleon’s rise to power, defeat, effect Europe? A. Napoleon rose to power because he was the best field general at that time. His power effected Europe because everyone was afraid to go to war against him. Q. How were westerners involved in the Opium wars? A. England was selling the drug Opium to China and it was the most profit they had an the Chinese needed to get rid of the drug that was affecting millions.

SSWH15: The student will be able to describe the impact of industrialization, the rise of nationalism and the major characteristics of world-wide imperialism. Q. What was the impact of Adam smith and Karl Marx writings? A. Adam Smith said the state should not interfere in economic matters. The desire for personal gain drives economic activity and that they should compete with better products. Karl Marx was for socialism. Q. What is similar between Germany under Otto Von Bismarck and Japan under Emperor Meiji? A. The leaders made their military the best to keep their countries together and be the most powerful. Q. What was the reaction to the Russo-Japanese War and Young Turks? A. Japan drove the Russian troops out of Korea and captured most of Russia’s Pacific fleet. Q. How did imperialism affect Africa and Asia? A. Africa abolished un civilized practices.
