Literacy Reading We will be getting ready for our phonics screen test. We will keep practising our letters and sounds. Handwriting We will keep practising our new cursive handwriting style. Writing We will be looking at the story Rosie’s Walk. all about the farm. We look at and read the story of Peter Pan and get our own ideas for writing our own pirate stories. We are going to write a recount about our trip to the farm using the past test. We will be writing messages in bottles for pirates. We will write our own instructions for how to find treasure. Numeracy We will play position games. We will play what time is it Mr Wolf and use clocks to tell the time. We will make shape pictures using 2D shapes and make nets of 3D shapes. We are going to play games to help us with out number bonds. We will solve lots of problems. Science We will be making split pin skeletons and labelling the body parts. We will be going to the farm to look at farm animals and how to look after them. We will look at how animals are different using their skeletons. RE We will learn about what Jewish people do on a Saturday. We will make our own Shabbat meal. Geography We will make our own pirate maps We will use a map of the UK to make a treasure map. We will use geography words to give instruction. We will follow compass directions to go on our own treasure hunt. PE We will be doing dance with Mrs Kendal making animal movements. We will practise throwing using the javelin and shot put. We will have a mini Olympics to show what we have learnt. PSHE We will discuss our friendships and different kinds of relationships.. We will write friendship poems. Art/DT We will design and make our own treasure chest pencil pot. We will follow design instructions. We will look at 2 artists and choose out favourite. Activities for Year 1 Summer 1 “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A pirate’s life for me!” Music We will work in groups to sing and perform pirate songs. We will play different instruments to match and rhythm and beat. Computing We will record our own videos using the i- pads and edit them. We will change pictures of animals using 2paint.
