2. AstraZeneca Digital Centre of Excellence Issue: The DCOE site aims to showcase digital capabilities and understanding across multiple channels within AstraZeneca. Conforming to AZ Central IS process and procedure, the site was developed using the SharePoint 2007 platform. Challenge: To create a visually engaging digital portal that showcases digital capability and pertinent information on how to engage and deploy digital solutions across the AZ Global Commercial areas. The site had to “set the bar” and lead by example. Along with this were technical limitations; permissions and restrictions by AZ IS teams meant that only the following technologies were available to the development team to modify the User Interface: jQuery CSS HTML SPD

Issues faced and identified: Site had to be developed only using “Out of the Box” development methods The site had to incorporate AZ digital and branding guidelines Improve performance and quality of the user experience Increase the volume of users visiting the site Showcase digital capability What did you do to solve the problem? Creation of subscription, rss and update functionality to increase repeat visits Incorporate digital branding guidelines, ensuring the site is “on brand” Design and develop a custom user interface for SharePoint Development of interactive content such as news and updates AstraZeneca Digital Centre of Excellence

4. Initial site: Developed as “out of the box” using a standard SharePoint Theme. Challenge: Permissions and restrictions by AZ IS teams meant we could only use the following technologies to modify the User Interface: jQuery CSS HTML SPD

5. AstraZeneca Digital Centre of Excellence New solution: Using SharePoint Designer and mainly in browser modifications we were able to tweak the UI and extend on functionality. Without the ability to write executing code, the functional and visual amendments were completed entirely with client side code. Volume of users increased by over 30%.
