1. MHS SPEECH AND THEATRE CLASSES Teacher: Mrs. Hannah Barnes

2. THEATRE 1 Grade level: 9, 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR No prerequisite Theatre 1 is an introductory course that gives students an overview of all things theatre! Interpersonal connections, speaking onstage, theatre games, Improvisation, scene work, script writing, stage makeup, mask work, etc... will all be explored. This fulfills the fine art credit for graduation.

3. THEATRE 2 AND 3 THEATRE II - ACTING AND PERFORMANCE Prerequisite: None Grade level: 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR This course is for students who enjoy theatre and acting. Students will expand on their basic theatrical knowledge of acting, improvisation, pantomime, and scene work. THEATRE III – FILM APPRECIATION & DIRECTING Prerequisite: Theatre I or II Grade level: 11, 12 FULL YEAR Students will learn about the art of directing by taking a script and creating their artistic vision on the stage. This class will also focus on the appreciation of film. Students will learn to analyze film and appreciate the art that goes into it. The students will observe film, but they will also increase understanding by filming their own movies using the Theatre 2 students as their actors.

THEATRE AND THE STAGE THEATRE - STAGECRAFT (TECH THEATRE ) Prerequisite: None Grade level: 10, 11, 12 One Semester or FULL YEAR The students will be involved with constructing set pieces for plays and painting them, learning lights and sound, creating flyers and programs, costuming, theater make up, designing scenery, etc. This is a class for the student who wants to get involved with plays without having to act. All students are required to be a part of the after school plays and the thespian festival NOTE: After school time is required.

THEATRE 4: THEATRE WORKSHOP THEATRE IV - STAGECRAFT COMPREHENSIVE (THEATRE WORKSHOP) Prerequisite: Audition Required: Teacher Recommendation Grade level: 11, 12 FULL YEAR This class involves intense work in theatre. After school time is required. Students will be encouraged to express themselves through acting and technical theatre and will be required to participate in all school theatre productions. Students must also be a part of the one act play that goes to compete at Thespian Festival.

SPEECH: DYNAMIC SPEAKING SPEECH – DYNAMIC SPEAKING Prerequisite: None Grade level: 9, 10, 11, 12 1ST SEMESTER OR FULL YEAR For students who want to express themselves in various speech activities (e.g. public speaking, oral interpretations of literature, broadcasting, competitive speaking, Lincoln Douglas Debate.)
