DIRECTED ELECTIVE PROJECT DESCRIPTION: FOR THIS PROJECT, YOU WILL CHOOSE A BOOK YOU HAVE READ THIS YEAR THAT YOU HAVE ENJOYED READING—IT NEEDS TO BE ONE YOU READ FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR.
2
YOU WILL CHOOSE BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING TWO OPTIONS: Option 1: Create a “Movie Poster” for your book. This should be similar to a movie poster you’d see at the movie theatre. Your audience is other teenagers who are trying to find a good book to read. This should be colorful, neat, and feature a few images/pictures. This can be done on a computer, but it can also be done old-school by using markers and a posterboard. Option 2 (+5 pts. extra credit just for choosing this option!) Create a commercial advertising your book using Present.me. This can incorporate video, text, and sound, or just text and sound.
3
BOTH THE MOVIE POSTER AND THE PRESENTATION SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Book title and author (large letters, easy to read) A quote from a “reviewer” about the book (the reviewer should be you, and the quote should be a statement about why you liked the book). Example: “Hilarious! This book is the best invention since Pop- tarts!”-Mrs. Hudson
4
BOTH THE MOVIE POSTER AND THE PRESENTATION SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: A short description of the book that leaves the reader wanting more…don’t give away any suprises, obviously. This needs to be written by you—any summary taken directly off of a website will give you a ZERO for the whole project! (at least 5 sentences long) Ideal Audience: Describe what type of person would really love this book. (example: someone who loves teen romance stories, anyone who is into fantasy stories, etc.) Who are the actors in the movie? (Choose who you would cast to play the main characters if the book were made into a movie).
