2 Why go on residential There are numerous reasons for children attending a residential in their primary years: 1)Confidence building 2)Meeting new challenges and developing skills in preparation for secondary school 3)Developing independence 4)Developing new relationships and friendships which will support transition to secondary 5)The chance to learn a little more about themselves 6)Staying away with friends and the excitement of the challenge 7)Happy and lasting memories of their younger years!!!

3 Why Oakwood? Oakwood is a purpose built centre which most suitably meets the aims and rational we have for taking children on residential. We can help those who come through our doors to move forward and upward. We believe that everyone should have a mountain to climb, a challenge to meet, a goal to aim for. While striving for these things people will experience good and bad times and have to take some risks. We aim to provide people with the skills that they need to meet these challenges, face the risks and ultimately succeed. It is also amazing.. The best site visited in all the years we have been planning a residential!

4 Oakwood –The Grounds

5 Oakwood-Accommodation Purpose built – en suite Full wet room Up to 6 per room Two separate corridors and entry doors to separate boys and girls Adult to stay in the block Close to activities Sheets provided (Own pillow and duvet/sleeping bag needed

6 Oakwood - dining Large Kitchen and Dining room All meals prepared and cooked on site Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Wide choice available Evening access to the kitchen – for making a night time hot chocolate!

7 Oakwood- Menu- Breakfast BREAKFAST Cereals Toast and preserves Croissants Yoghurts Fruit Fruit Juice Tea and Coffee

8 Oakwood- Menu- Lunch LUNCH OPTIONS Vegetarian and Meat Pizza Salad Jacket Potatoes Cheese, Beans and Sausages Salad Cornish Pasties and Cheese and Onion Pasties Salad Sandwiches (Packed Lunch) Crisps Fruit Chocolate Bar Drink Each day at lunch there would also be fruit, rolls and butter, muffins or cookies and fruit squash.

12 Oakwood –Safety All activities are run by qualified staff and all activities can be run on-site. Any specialist equipment needed for an activity is provided by Oakwood and passes all regulations Full harnesses/helmets for all activities Two instructors per small group of 10 children A member of school staff will accompany each group at all times

13 Oakwood Evening Bonfire! Instructors from the site will build, light and maintain safety around a bonfire one evening The Octagon. For evening entertainment. A full music system and 4 wall projection for if we choose to have a talent evening or similar The Lounge In the evening we can come in here and have some quiet time before bed. We can share experiences and talk about the challenges we have faced in the day.

14 Oakwood – Other facilities The beehives A well equipped nature are with sheltered seating, desks, lighting and a central decking area. Good for any art and craft activities and shelter if we are unfortunate to have any rain While we will not be taking part in horse riding activities there are stables on site and children will have the opportunity to visit and have a look around

15 Oakwood- Payment plan The total cost of the trip is £140.00 This can be paid in a one off lump sum or we are able to offer you an instalment plan – giving you the flexibility to budget and pay when you can. A commitment by Friday 14 th December A deposit of £40 would be required by Friday 1 st February The final balance needs to be received by the school no later than Tuesday 4 th June. You will receive a payment card, and each time you pay this will be stamped by the school office and a receipt issued.
