Persuasion is better than force. Let’s finish up our presentations!

2. Consider a lesson that you think children need to learn! Take 3 minutes and list as many lessons as you can think of! You’ll use this list to help you determine a moral for your fable.

3. Today is Wednesday, January 20 th. Warm-up: 1. What is a protagonist? 2. What is an antagonist? 3. Draw a plot mountain (list the parts) 4. What happens at each point? 5. What is a conflict?

5. What is this? What does it look like? Why might it be useful for you to have a plot outlined for your story?

6. Today is Thursday, January 21 st. Warm-up: Turn to a shoulder partner and tell them the following information. Get some feedback! (What do they think?): 1. Tell them who you chose as your main characters. 2. Why you chose the setting you did. 3. What your conflict is and how you think it relates to your moral or lesson. 4. How the conflict in your fable is resolved. Let’s finish up our presentations! 3 rd Period: We’ll have an RSVP discussion with our ASB folks today. Be ready!

What is something no one knows about you? A secret or confession? Describe the time you met someone important/special to you (best friend, etc.) Describe the first time you tried a new activity (sport, game, playing an instrument) What was an important lesson someone taught you? Who is someone unique and special in your life?

10. Today is Friday, January 22 nd. No warm-up today! Get out your free write(s) from yesterday and your outlines for your fables!

11. Each of you will read two other students’ free writes. Start by telling them what you liked, found interesting or connected with Then, tell them what they should work on (being specific, clarifying ideas…) Finally, give it back! Your final job is to take these notes and ideas and rewrite them on the speech worksheet Then, you’ll use your free write idea and the worksheet to develop notes for you speech!
