THIS TRAINING MODULE IS SENSITIVE BUT UNCLASSIFIED (SBU) AND WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO UNAUTHORIZED INDIVIDUALS. ADVANCE TO THE MAIN MENU BY PRESSING THE RIGHT ARROW KEY. SELECT A TRAINING MODULE BY PLACING THE MOUSE POINTER OVER THE ACTION BUTTON. ONCE YOU ARE IN A MODULE, YOU MAY MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARD BY UTILIZING THE RIGHT AND LEFT ARROW KEYS, RESPECTIVELY. IF JAMMING, MAINTAIN THE JAMMING ANTENNA TOWARD THE RADAR AND ACTIVATE THE JAMMER. JINK THE AIRCRAFT TOWARD A MASK OR MER, DO NOT MAINTAIN A HEADING OR ALTITUDE FOR MORE THAN 3-5 SECONDS BEFORE TURNING OR CHANGING ALTITUDE AGAIN. WHEN RADAR LOCK IS BROKEN, THE SYMBOL WILL GHOST.

28 AN/APR-39A(V)1 DENSE SIGNAL ENVIRONMENT OPERATIONS
IF MODE 1 VOICE FORMAT IS A DISTRACTION, MODE 2 WILL REDUCE AUDIO CLUTTER WITHOUT AFFECTING THE NUMBER OR PRIORITY OF THE SIGNALS BEING PROCESSED. IN A DENSE SIGNAL ENVIRONMENT, THE APR-39A(V)1 WILL OPERATE IN A DEGRADED MODE. THE RSDS WILL DISPLAY UP TO 7 THREATS ON THE INDICATOR. IF THE SYSTEM SENSES MORE THAN 7 THREATS, IT WILL DISPLAY ONLY THE 7 THREATS HAVING THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. AS SIGNAL DENSITY INCREASES, THE SYSTEM THRESHOLD IS AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTED UPWARD. WITH THE SYSTEM THRESHOLD RAISED, SIGNALS BELOW THE NEW THRESHOLD WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. THE PILOT MUST BE AWARE WHEN THE SYSTEM IS OPERATING IN A LESS SENSITIVE MODE. THE SYSTEM INFORMS THE PILOT BY FLASHING THE CENTER ‘+’ AND THE SYNTHETIC VOICE STATES “THREAT DETECTION DEGRADED”. SYSTEM SENSITIVITY WILL AUTOMATICALLY RETURN TO NORMAL WHEN THE SIGNAL DENSITY DECREASES. THE PILOT IS ALERTED TO SYSTEM STATUS WHEN THE ‘+’ STOPS FLASHING AND THE VOICE STATES “THREAT DETECTION RESTORED”.

C/D BAND AMPLIFIER INOPERATIVE- C/D THREATS WILL BE MISSED. THREATS THAT REQUIRE C/D BAND ACTIVITY CORRELATED WITH E-M BAND ACTIVITY WILL NOT BE PROCESSED CORRECTLY. FLASHING BOX OVER CENTER ‘+’. E-J BAND A/D ELEMENTS INOP-THIS FAULT MAY CAUSE BEARING ERRORS FOR E-J BAND THREATS. E-J BAND THREATS IN THE AFFECTED QUADRANT WILL BE MISSED. mmWAVE PERFORMANCE DEGRADED BY WEATHER-THREATS IN THE mmWAVE REGION MAY BE MISSED IN HEAVY RAIN CONDITIONS. RECEIVER INOP-IF A RECEIVER OR A SINGLE VIDEO CHANNEL IS INOP, THREATS WILL BE MISSED. NO SYNTHETIC VOICE WARNING MESSAGES WILL INCREASE YOUR WORKLOAD.
