Evaluation Question 5 How did you attract your audience?
2
In our Film, the first person you see is a young/ish girl in school uniform - showing she is vulnerable which is very typical of Thriller Films. Using a young school girl will make the audience automatically connect because the audience know this film is a Thriller, they can see a young girl, and if you are A) a young Girl/Boy maybe or B) a parent then it is very likely that these are big fears of theirs, unfortunately these fears occur very often. We have the girl listening to music whilst she is alone in a rather isolated area so she is cutting off one of her key senses to be aware of any predators. The film is for a large audience because it is a Psychological Thriller but mainly for teens to young adults because we have a lot of our film set in a school environment.

Audience feedback Getting feedback from our audience was really important because it showed us where our Film’s OTS was strongest. We had people give positive feedback particularly about

Advertising We’d use the Pull advertising technique to find our audience because I think it would do a really good job by being advertised on somewhere like facebook, youtube or twitter. Using Social Media to grab our audience is ideal because Social Media is usually used by younger people, in fact: 90% of 18 - 29 year olds use the internet, whilst - 78% of 30 - 49 year olds use the internet - 65% of 50 - 64yo 46% of 65+ This proves that our film will be noticed more by younger people, which is our aim Mainly using the Push advertisement technique wouldn’t do well for our film because older adults are most likely to read NewsPapers, and they aren’t really our target audience. We’d use the Pull advertising technique to find our audience because I think it

Mise en scene When we showed our Opening Title Sequence to our class we got a lot of positive feedback mostly saying they liked the use of props in our piece. We used a Red Ribbon which we see the girl wearing and the Man holding later on. One person said, “It worked really well with the Genre as you used isolated places to give it an eerie effect.” We also had someone say “Prop of Ribbon: Seems very important to the narrative which is effective in making the audience question its importance. Dark Red Lighting: Effective in making you unaware of what’s going on or what will happen.” I’m really happy with this feedback as it shows the audience understands and is aware of the storyline

Technical aspects In terms of sound, the Foley sound of heavy breathing was said to be effective in creating suspense and anxiety. Our target audience also commented on the quick cuts between the bright exterior and the darkroom. Several people commented… “The darkroom and the wooded area was cleverly cut together.” “The point of view and close up shots were effective and conventional.” which shows that our target audience could easily understand our genre.

Genre Our target audience commented particularly on the chase scenes. They also thought the innocent girl victim being targeted was very conventional. “The feeling of being chased worked well… I felt absorbed in the action.” In terms of location, many noted the “dark places giving it an eerie effect.” “
