Economic Effects World War II pulled the US out of the Great Depression, not “New Deal” few consumer goods, because most goods being produced were war materials very few unemployed (men fighting, women and minorities worked in factories) Rationing (government and public will) did not afford people to spend their money So, people had lots of money saved after the war

based on Social Darwinism and prejudice deemed Jews as “racially inferior” Jews had been persecuted for over 1600 years Usury: money lending Death of Jesus Hitler targeted people who were “different” - Jews, homosexuals, Polish, Communists, Unionists, Jehovah’s Witnesses Anybody who could be deemed a threat

Creation of Israel Israel was created to ease the conscience of the world after the end of WWII US and Allies response to anti-Semitism was very limited US did not ease restrictions on Jewish immigration, even after learning of attacks (Nuremberg Laws and Kristallnacht) on Jews - ex. S.S. St. Louis In the end, over 6 million Jews were “exterminated” and over 5.5 million others US continues support for Israel to this day and this support has caused resentment from many Middle Eastern groups and countries

Officers “were just following orders” Nuremberg War Crimes Trials: Trials to convict Nazi Officers on crimes against humanity - a way to hold officers accountable for their actions during war Sentenced to death 12 Nazi officers While it makes officials accountable for their actions it has not stopped genocide: violent crimes committed against groups with the intent to destroy the existence of the group
