I landed a job as host of the weekly television drama series The General Electric Theater. Part of my responsibility as host is to tour the United States as a public relations representative for General Electric. I am starting to question some of my liberal politic views. I am starting to understand a more conservative perspective. Today I led my first pro-business discussion, speaking out against excessive government regulation and wasteful spending. Growing up I had great memories of playing sports, lifeguarding and being the student council president. I went on to play several sports in college at Eureka College and graduated in 1932. From there, I went on to work for Warner Brothers movie studio for 7 years. During World War II, I was disqualified from combat duty due to poor eyesight and spent my time in the Army making training films and left the military ranked as a captain. I was president of the Screen Actors Guild from1947-1952, where I met my 2 nd wife Nancy. have 4 wonderful children, 2 from my first marriage and 2 with my current wife Nancy.
