Preparing Students for College and Career Senior Class of 2013 was accepted to nearly 100 colleges and universities in 26 states. Preparing Students for College and Career 2013 2013 –523 students took 790 Advanced Placement (AP) exams »396 AP exams were passed and each of those students received college credit… in high school! »Of those 523 students taking AP exams, 151 were FRESHMEN! Student placement is determined by the following factors: Student Grades and Courses Taken in Grade 8 8 th Grade Teacher Recommendations EXPLORE Score Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test (SDRT) Parent Requests Based on all the information above, reading and math interventions in the summer and/or school year may be necessary.

When will we receive our scores? Just stop in the Guidance Department during the stated hours.

What is the EXPLORE test? The EXPLORE is a shorter/grade appropriate version of the ACT. The EXPLORE consists of 4 subject tests: –English- 40 questions (30 Minutes) –Math- 30 questions (30 Minutes) –Reading- 30 questions (30 Minutes) –Science- 28 questions (30 Minutes)

Why is the EXPLORE test important? The EXPLORE is a modified version of the ACT given to 8 th and 9 th grade students. The EXPLORE helps predict a student’s future score on the ACT. –The ACT is a part of a series of tests typically taken during the spring of a student’s junior year. –All students must take an ACT test as a graduation requirement. –ACT scores are used for the college application and admission process.

Why is the EXPLORE test important? The EXPLORE test provides schools, parents, and students information on what your student knows now and what skills he/she needs to work on in H.S. in order to be prepared for college and the career of their choice.
