8 YEAR 9 INFORMATION EVENING YEAR 10 EXAMS Run as close to a real experience as possible. 2 weeks of t/t disruption. Opportunity to try past papers allows students the chance to get a feel of what the “real thing” will be like. Time and pace experience. Revision skills & revision t/t planning experience.

9 YEAR 9 INFORMATION EVENING It is vitally important that pupils have the correct equipment for exams – At least two black ink pens/ball points – At least two sharp pencils (HB) – A 30cm ruler – A pencil sharpener – An eraser – A pair of compasses – Protractor – A Scientific Calculator – It is useful in some exams to have highlighter pens. – Pencil cases brought into the exam room must be see through.

10 REQUEST FROM MATHS! CASIO FX-83GTPLUS This is more important for this year group as the majority (2 thirds) of their final exams will be done with a calculator which is different to the current GCSE. Mrs Bingham does sell these in the Library for a lower price than most shops/online.

12 What is on offer at Perins? OCR Gateway Science B H 1 & 2 and P 1 & 2 will be given the opportunity to take GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry & GCSE Physics courses, H 3 & 4 and P 3 & 4 will take GCSE Core Science and GCSE Additional Science (an integrated course), Controlled Assessment is worth 25% of each and every GCSE.

19 Content very similar to current GCSE 100% final exam (untiered) Two exam papers for Language and two for Literature Reading texts in both Language and Literature have a greater emphasis on 19 th Century fiction and literary non-fiction Balance of Reading & Writing Greater emphasis on summary & synthesis skills and analysis of the writer’s craft Curriculum studied in Yr7-9 supports the new GCSE
