ZIS Responsible Use Policy I understand that my device (e.g. tablet), email account, and all other ZIS IT services and resources are to be used for educational purposes. I understand that streaming video or music, social networking sites, instant messaging and chat, video games are not allowed during class time unless permitted by a teacher. I understand that creating, accessing, displaying, producing, storing, circulating or transmitting pornographic or offensive material in any form or medium is against school rules and in some cases against the law. (Including sending, posting or displaying offensive images, language or any other type of offensive content including the bullying, harassment or intimidation of others.) I will not intentionally disrupt network traffic with high bandwidth use such downloading music, videos, or online gaming. I will not give out my password to anyone nor use someone else’s password or log-in identity and I understand the dangers of giving out personal information. I will not deliberately introduce any harmful or nuisance program or file, or deliberately circumvent any precautions taken by the school to prevent this from happening (e.g. installing viruses) I agree to comply with trademark, copyright laws, data protection laws and computer misuse laws, and to give credit to all sources used. I understand that electronic communication and computer use may be monitored at anytime, including a physical search of the device loaned to me. I understand that ZIS may limit, suspend or revoke access to the school’s technology systems, services, or network upon violation of the Responsible Use Policy

Tablet Care You will be charged for cosmetic damage e.g. deep scratches, dents, cracks Many students have been charged for cosmetic damage The average bill was 400chf. The highest bill was over 700chf In some cases (not all) we can fix damage before it gets worse If your tablet is damaged bring it to the IT Office immediately
8
The minimum cost of repair is 210chf This part had to be replaced at a cost of 160chf for labour and 50chf for the part. The minimum cost of labour is 160chf. Had the student reported the damage early, the IT Office may have been able to make repairs before the damage spread.
9
Tablet Care (School - Home) Damage is most likely to happen when transporting a tablet from school – home (and vice versa) A suitable bag will have a waterproof space for your tablet Be careful if using skateboards/scooters and carrying your tablet in a backpack (a fall can be very painful) Your tablet should be concealed in your bag. Visible tablets may lead to theft. Do not take your tablet home if you do not need it
10
Tablet Care (Movement within the School) Damage is also likely to happen when transporting a tablet between lessons Do not carry more than you are able to/need to – tablets get dropped often Do not try to put your tablet in the cabinet whilst holding binders and books Do not run in the hallways or barge past people, you may cause them to drop their tablet
11
Self Management – Ready to Learn (Charging) You are responsible for arriving at lessons with sufficient charge in your tablet Charging your tablet the night before school should provide sufficient charge for the next school day You should use your cabinet to charge your tablets at lunch or during any lesson when your tablet is not required
12
Self Management – Ready to learn (Tablet Functionality) Your tablet works with the current configuration – that means with software we have installed Do not install additional software without permission as this may affect the functionality of your tablet This includes, for example, software that changes your desktop, cursors or any software related to gaming.
13
Self Management – Ready to Learn (Tablet Pens and Chargers) You have a charger to take home. This additional charger should only be brought to school when advised by the IT Office. Your tablet has a pen. It is small but expensive. Look after it. Never take another student’s pen or charger – this is theft and the consequences are serious. If you lose your pen or charger you will need to purchase a new one.
14
Gaming and Social Networking Your school computer works. Do not use it for gaming or social networking Gaming and social networking is not only a distraction but the websites add additional software to your computer and reduce its performance. Use your own ipad, iphone, ipod, laptop, x-box etc that you have at home for gaming and socialising.
