Edgar Allan Poe is an American poet, a writer, an essayist, a literary critic and an editor. He was a forms creator of modern detective fiction and genre of psychological prose. Some works of Edgar Allan Poe contributed to the formation and development of science fiction. He is best known as the author of the "terrible" and mystical stories, as well as the poems "the Raven". He was famous for his "somber" and detective stories.

Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19 th in 1809 in Boston, United States. His parents, actors, died when he was two years old. The boy was adopted by a well-to-do merchant John Allan from Virginia. His childhood passed comfortably. The Allan spent much money on his upbringing. When he was six, they gave the boy to London Guest Home.

After leaving the House of the Allan, he went to Boston, where the printed collection of poems under the pseudonym "Boston-man". Without shelter he began serving in the army under an assumed. He spent there about a year, he had to have the higher-ups in good standing.

He began his literary activities with poetry by publishing in 1827 in Boston a little volume of poems with "Tamerlane and other poems". As the writer in 1833 he made ‘Manuscript found in a bottle’.

The last years of his life, 1847- 1849, were the years of madness, high success, painful falls and continuing slander their enemies. But the disease has already destroyed the life of the poet; seizures of alcoholism became louder. Wilde’s nervousness grew almost to mental disorders.

In September in1849 Edgar Poe successfully read in Richmond a lecture about "the poetic principle". From there he went having 1500 dollars in his pocket. What then happened, remains a mystery. Edgar Allan Poe was found unconscious and robbed. He was brought to Baltimore, where Poe died in hospital on 7 October 1849.

Creation was influenced by romanticism, having already finished its way to West. He remained in the history of poetry and as a painter, considered the surface the idea that genius is not compatible with the skill gained hard. The most significant book ‘the Raven’ and other poems.

Virtually the first at home he tried to understand the nature and destination of Arts and develop a harmonious system of aesthetic principles. He insisted on the "strict application of the method to any field of intellectual work," including artistic creativity.

His definition of poetry is "creating beautiful through rhythm“. Poetic masterpieces are "the Raven" and "Annabel Lee", "Ulalume", "Bells", "Lenore", etc. They are plothless and not amenable to logical interpretation of prose.

In my opinion Edgar Poe is a very unusual and not standard author. I will definitely read his works.
