Directions: 1.Using a ruler, divide the construction paper into sections to include the 5 levels in the sample below. (other designs optional) 2.Label the levels and provide the definition into specially designated sections. 3.Draw or print out pictures to fill the examples of the terms. 4.Include a list or label the biotic and abiotic factors in each picture. 5.Put your full name and period in the bottom right hand corner

Essential Question How much energy is available at each level of a food pyramid and why? Standard B.12C - analyze the flow of matter and energy through trophic levels using various models, including food chains, food webs, and ecological pyramids. PG 130

This is a quiz grade! Objective: To create a food web showing the flow of energy and matter. A.Choose a biome: Taiga (Frozen), Ocean (Finding Nemo), Grassland (Lion King), Deciduous Forest (Bambi), Desert (Aladdin), Tropical Rainforest (Jungle Book), or Tundra (Happy Feet). B.Draw a food web with at least 10 organisms. (You do not have to draw pictures. You can write words instead.) C.Outline and label your organisms with the following colors: producers green, herbivores yellow, carnivores red, omnivores blue, and decomposers orange. D.Label each applicable organism as a primary (#1), secondary (#2), tertiary (#3), or quaternary (#4) consumer. *some organisms will have multiple labels* E.Use ARROWS to show the flow of energy and matter. *Remember: Some organisms might have several arrows leaving and going to/from that organism* F.Write numbers representing the amount of energy at each level – the producer will start with 100 kcal (energy). *some organisms will have multiple numbers* G.A. On the back of your paper: Explain how your web would be affected i.If a quaternary consumer was removed from the ecosystem. ii.If a producer was removed from the ecosystem. iii.If a secondary consumer was added to the ecosystem (give an example). B. What human activities could have the biggest impact on your web? How would your organisms adapt?
