3. Continuum of Services & Least Restrictive Environment Students with disabilities may be in a variety of program options. Below are some of the program options for serving students with special needs: Full Time General Education Classroom Least General Education Classroom with Accommodations Part-time Resource Room with Less General Education Classroom Full Time, Separate Special Education Class in Neighborhood or Nearby School One-on-One Paraeducator Special Day School in a Separate Facility Homebound with Support Residential Program in a Separate Facility Most

5. General Education Classroom with Accommodations 504 Plan Not always considered Special Education

Part-time Resource Room with Less General Education Classroom Resource room classes include: Reading Writing Combined Reading and Writing Math Social Skills/Adaptive Skills This is sometimes called “pull out” services in Special Education. This may also include Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Visual Therapy, Orientation and Mobility, or Audiology, which are generally shorter sessions.

7. Full Time, Separate Special Education Class in Neighborhood or Nearby School ILCk-Special education instructional classes for Kindergarten students identified with moderate to severe developmental delays. ILCp-Primary grades serving students in ILC ILCi-Intermediate grades serving students in ILC ILCs- For students with severe developmental delays and/or the medically fragile. ILCs EBD-For students with severe emotional or behavioral difficulties with a strong emphasis on social skill acquisition generalization and competence. ILC (ASD, GOALS)-Special education instructional small group classes for students requiring functional communication, increased structure and social skills instruction. ILC (Highly Structured)- For students with mild to moderate developmental delays

8. One-on-One Paraeducator Adult support throughout the entire school day or partial day Provides support in academics, transitions, mobility, behavior, safety, toileting, tube feeding, etc., depending on the student’s needs

9. Special Day School in a Separate Facility Renton Academy: A therapeutic school for students with social, emotional, behavioral needs Out of District Facility

10. Homebound with Support Washington State calls it Home/Hospital Must have doctor’s recommendation concerning physical or mental health conditions that prevent the student coming to school Contracted teacher comes to work in the home

11. Residential Program in a Separate Facility The school district does not decide on placement. Usually a WRAP team decides placement Students must have 2 types of services to qualify Students have significant mental health needs
