SUMMER READING The Library of Michigan supports Summer Reading programs in Michigan by purchasing membership in the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) for public libraries in Michigan. 2

SUMMER READING - MEMBERSHIP What does CLSP membership mean? We can purchase manuals – children, teen, and adult – and send them out to every public library building. Public libraries, as members, can use the program manuals, graphics and PSAs at no charge. Public library staff can sign up for free accounts at the CSLP site and gain access to additional proprietary materials. 3

MICHIGAN READS! Library of Michigan’s annual early literacy program. The program highlights the importance of reading with children in the development of literacy. Goals: to promote the value and benefits of reading early and often to preschoolers to increase awareness and usage of Michigan's libraries provide a consistent message across communities about children and literacy. 8

EVERY CHILD READY TO READ ALA Early Literacy Program 2 year materials and training program in Michigan Free ECRR kit on request until supplies run out Focus of program is on basic early literacy skills Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing, Playing and how to train staff, parents and community groups on how to encourage these skills in young children. 13
