It also reflects the experience of many researchers in this field of U.S. history: partial documentation, no WPA narrative, and gaps in the record. However, it also includes a criminal warrant record, photos and other documents to allow inferences the other cases lack. Also, it shows how some families began to “pass” into white society: “Andies” is listed as both colored and white on the same bench warrant roster, “Adock” is born black but dies white.
