A Quick History of Mines 1885 Established to provide instruction in mining engineering. Post WWII expanded role in science and technology. 1960 Graduate programs added. 1999 Research component emphasized. 2004 Math-ready admissions. 2006 Graduate programs/research emphasis.

AMP Laboratory Capabilities Friction Stir Welding Capability from 0.020 to 2+ inches thick, in materials ranging from aluminum to super alloys. Laser Powder Deposition From 300W to 3kW, cladding to 3-D printing, including 6-axis motion and internal bore cladding. Cold Spray Thermal spray process 1000 psi & 900C, we have worked with a broad range of materials.
