REINS “It’s not our way, child. We are in no hurry,” he said as he drew up the reins and slowly directed the horse into their farmyard. Joshua pulled back hard on the reins, but the horse did not want to slow down.

REINS  Reins are the straps that are placed on the head of an animal (such as a horse) and that are used to guide and control the animal.

NESTLED As Naomi and Ruth searched the field for eggs laid outside the henhouse, they spotted a very unusual one nestled in the tall grass down the drive and behind the henhouse, next to the road. I spotted a sleeping bunny nestled in the tall grass.

NESTLED  Nestled means to lie comfortably close to or against someone or something.

FROLIC The elders were coming for a working bee, or frolic, in the coming summer. The girls had a wonderful frolic playing under the water sprinkler.

FROLIC  Frolic means to play and move about happily.

CONSTANTLY As the days passed, Naomi and Ruth checked Henny’s nest constantly. The man constantly looked at his watch, as if he were in a hurry to go.

CONSTANTLY  Constantly means happening all the time or very often over a period of time.

HALTINGLY “What does… ‘shun’ mean?” Ruth asked haltingly. The boy spoke haltingly, afraid to speak in front of so many people.

HALTINGLY  Haltingly means stopping often because of not being sure about what to say or do.
