Maidstone Borough Council Healthy Living Programmes Weight Management Our range of weight management programmes support individuals to lose weight and more importantly keep it off, helping people to achieve their goals. These programmes are suitable for adults with a BMI of 28 and above and young people 5 years and above for a family centred approach. Exercise Referral Programme Our exercise referral programmes help individuals to become more active for life and improve confidence within a group setting or with 1 to 1 support. The programmes run in various locations with a range of activities available which are tailored to the individual. These programmes are suitable for adults with a BMI of 28 and above and/or low level mental health conditions. Falls prevention Weekly classes for people who would like to improve their confidence in getting out and about and around their home. This gentle exercise class is suitable for people 65 and over who lack confidence in moving around and / or are at risk of falling.

Maidstone Borough Council Healthy Living Programmes Men’s Health We offer a range of programmes that support men to become more active and lose weight. These programmes are specifically designed for men who have a BMI of 28 and above. Walking for Health These free regular short walks across the Maidstone borough offer the chance to get outdoors and meet new people. The walks are suitable for individuals who partake in little or no exercise and those who attend are encouraged to walk at their own pace. Walks are led by a team of highly dedicated and trained volunteer walk leaders.

Counterweight A yearlong evidence based programme which encompasses behavioural techniques to support weight loss and weight loss maintenance equipping clients with skills to manage their weight for life. The Adult Weight Management Programme Maidstone Leisure Centre run a 10 week programme which includes one free diet and nutrition seminar and one circuit training class a week. The circuit training costs £1.50. Whilst on the programme people can use the gym and swimming facilities for a discounted cost of £1.50 per visit. Go For It A FREE family and childrens (5-17 years) weight management and healthy lifestyle programme run at Zeroth Active Zone.

Maidstone Borough Council Healthy Living Programmes Exercise Referral Programme Our exercise referral programmes help individuals to become more active for life and improve confidence within a group setting or with 1 to 1 support. The programmes run in various locations with a range of activities available which are tailored to the individual. These programmes are suitable for adults with a BMI of 28 and above and/or low level mental health conditions. YMCA Exercise Referral 10-12 week programme which includes gym sessions and group sessions such as Pickleball, table tennis, badminton and other activities. Zeroth Exercise Referral For clients with specific needs, more of a tailored one on one approach is used.

Maidstone Borough Council Healthy Living Programmes Men’s Health Our programmes support men to get fit and lose weight using physical activity and team spirit to help you. These programmes are designed for men who have a BMI of 28 and above. Match Fit This 10 week programme run by Wellbeing People offers weekly fitness sessions at Maidstone United's home ground, followed by a team talk to coach you towards being match fit.

Maidstone Borough Council Healthy Living Programmes How to be referred? Referrals can be self-referrals or by a GP or Clinician. Patients/clients can be referred by completing the Maidstone Borough Council Healthy Living Referral form which can be found online or via a health professional or GP

Free training for Walk Leaders Civil liability insurance Access to promotional materials and support Access to a national database Accreditation so schemes are all of a certain standard, so patients and GPs have confidence in them. Have to be: - Short (no longer than 90mins) - Free - Accessible by walking or taking local public transport - Over easy terrain - Require no special equipment - Regular - Be run by a recognised scheme - follow best practice guidelines - Risk assessed
