Who are Provide? We provide a broad range of community services across Essex, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, as well as the London boroughs of Waltham Forest and Redbridge. How does it effect you? As of 1 st October we have been commissioned through ECC’s Public Health and Wellbeing to deliver the historical 5 -19 ‘School Nursing’, Healthy Schools and School Health Improvement agendas We are responsible for these services in Mid, South and West Essex

Service Aims To provide a service that:- Achieves the best health outcomes and wellbeing outcomes for all children and young people of school age to enable them to make the most of their education and wider social opportunities; Provides a high quality service that is accessible to children, young people and families; Tackles health inequalities, by targeting those children and young people most in need; Works in partnership with other agencies, thereby enabling all young people to reach their full potential in life; Maximises the contribution to safeguarding through provision of early help, referral when appropriate to specialist services and multi-disciplinary working, and by participating in child protection and child in need processes; Provides a proactive, reactive and responsive service. 5

What will we deliver? School Entry Screen Review Health Assessments completed for looked after children National Child Measurement Programme (Reception and YR6) Health Needs Assessment in all Schools and create a bespoke delivery plan Assessment, Brief Intervention and referral for Health and Lifestyle concerns ie: weight management, sexual health and smoking. Healthy Schools Engagement Validation Enhancement, including support to deliver targeted interventions Youth Health Champion programme 7

In addition… We will: Provide support for children subject to CIN and CP plan Act as a Liaison with Schools safeguarding lead, verbally sharing relevant information. Advise on care planning for epilepsy, Anaphylaxis and other health care needs Provide training for School staff on anaphylaxis, asthma, epilepsy Provide support to families with children who are persistently absent due to a health need Ensure we provide accessible services to children and young people. Drop-ins Social Media Texting Support and encourage Schools to deliver evidence based PSHE as part of the Healthy Schools Award Scheme. Email: PROVIDE.pshe@nhs.net 8

What can’t we do? The members of the 5-19 are not able to : -Provide targeted interventions where delivery is not linked to an Action Plan -Provide ad-hoc PSHE -Provide anything other than core provision to schools who disengage from Healthy Schools or Health Needs Assessments -IN ORDER TO FULLY BENEFIT WE WOULD ADVISE SCHOOLS TO COMMIT TO ACHIEVING THE HEALTHY SCHOOLS AWARD 9

How are we supporting with Healthy Schools? Process based support: New coordinator training 1:1 support: Resources, Sample Policies, advice and guidance Twilight training and information sessions. PSHE training and resources Termly Network meetings 10

How are we supporting with Healthy Schools? Action Plan Support to identify School Health Needs Training sessions and 1:1 Support in creating an Action Plan Delivery of training to meet universal outcome needs Dedicated support for the development and delivery of targeted interventions
