INTERNET INTERNET - short term for interconnected networks, is a global network of computers tied together to share information and other resources. Also called as the net, the web, the cyberspace or the information highway.

Internet Roots U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency - linked four computers using telephone wires and call it DARPANET (and soon called ARPANET). Internet Roots National Science Foundation - linked 5 supercomputer centers and called it NSFNET. ARPANET splits in two separate entities: MILNET to serve the needs of national defense and military communication; ARPANET which is primarily utilized by academics and researchers. Domain Name System - Paul Mockapetris, Jon Postel and Craig Partridge. Host names (x.com) and User names (user@x.com). ARPA six domain names:.edu,.gov,.mil,.com,.net,.org.
