What are the business problems we face with court files now? Paper case files can only be checked out by one person at a time. Paper case files not updated with recent filings. Clerk and Court staff time locating and delivering case files. There is not enough space in county courthouses.

How will Counties be impacted by EDMS? 1 County Attorney offices – Working PC with Windows – PDF software – Internet connections – Training will be supplied to the County Attorney office and staff by Judicial. Follow on support/training may need to be provided by County IT. – Some support and resources may need to be provided to integrate with Case Management Systems.

How will Counties be impacted by EDMS? 3 Kiosk and wireless – Judicial will install a Kiosk for pro se litigates and lawyers to use. PC, with printer and scanner. – Location and electrical – Perhaps called upon for troubleshooting, but not county responsibility – Electrical outlets in courtrooms

Implementation Strategy 2 pilot test counties Appellate courts Evaluation period. Modify software and other aspects of EDMS. Install by Judicial sub-district.

Implementation Strategy 2 Outreach to legal community. Training for judges and lawyers provided. Wireless access for lawyers in courtrooms and conference rooms. Kiosk for public and lawyers. Support for judges and lawyers. 4 to 5 year implementation schedule.
