Not a scary movie! Not a new hair style! It is not magic! IT IS STATIC ELECTRICITY!!!
4
Atoms make up all matter. Hair, combs, clothes ! Contact! Electrons move along the nucleus of an atom. Electrons can move from one atom to another. Opposite charges attract. Negative charges repel.
5
ELECTRICAL ENERGY
6
Electricity is a form of energy! We use energy for everything we do. Cooking to powering a space shuttle needs electricity.
7
He helped us to understand electricity. He realized that all material contain an electric charge. He explained that lightning comes from an electric charge in the sky. Protected buildings with the lightning rod.
8
We use many forms of energy to make our lives easier. To make things move. To power appliances and electronic equipment. To keep food fresh.
9
In the Kitchen In the family room refrigerator stove lamps air condition
10
In the basement Outdoors Washer & dryer Water heater Electric lawn mower Heated swimming pool
11
A simple electric circuit is a circuit that includes a power source, a light bulb and a switch connected to each other in a series with a wire.
12
Electricity in circuits require a complete loop for the current to flow through. An open circuit will not work.
13
Electricity moves through a path called a circuit. A closed circuit has no breaks. An open circuit has a break.
14
Series Circuit – Current goes through the parts of the circuit in a series. Parallel Circuit – Electrical current flows through both parts of the circuit at the same time.
15
Devices that keep too much electrical current from flowing through wires. Too much current can start fires inside walls.
16
Never touch any outdoor wires with your body or any other objects. Watch out for overhead wires when you're climbing trees, if you're using a ladder, or any tall objects. Keep electrical appliances and toys away from all sources of water.
17
Hydroelectric Power Uses dams to harness running water. Solar Power Solar panels capture and store energy from the sun. Geothermal Power Ground water heated by magma Wind Power Strong winds pass through the blades of windmills powering giant turbines.
18
Geothermal Power Solar Power It needs a hot spot and there is a need to dig deep in the earth where it is very hot. Great for the environment and is easy to set up and use.
19
Hydroelectric power Wind power Renewable source of energy. We never run out of wind. Can be very noisy Must be installed in rivers with fast moving water.
