Watt’s Steam Engine James Watt perfected an earlier model of the Steam Engine and made it safer and less expensive for boats. Prior to this, boats were prone to explosions. Cotton Gin In 1793, Eli Whitney made a tool that alleviated the stress of getting seeds out of cotton plants and later patented the Cotton Gin. Farm hands and slaves at the time had a lot of their work cut back due to this. This made the labor in the field less rigorous and time consuming. Click on the Cotton Gin to go back to the Main Menu.

Telegraph Samuel F.B. Morse invented the first telegraph which allowed people to communicate over long distances using the poles. This would forever change the field of communication. Sewing Machine Charles Fredrick Wiesenthal is credited with the invention of the first sewing machine although there were a couple different designs during that time. Because of this machine, clothing was able to be made and repaired at a fraction of the time it would have taken otherwise. Click on the Sewing Machine to go back to the Main Menu.

Airplane In 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first successful flight, changing transportation for the rest of the world. It only lasted 12 seconds but it was still successful. Ford Model T The Model T was created by Henry Ford and officially produced in 1908, it became the most popular automobile during the 1910s and even into the 1920s. It was known as the Tin Lizzie. Click on the Model T to go back to the Main Menu.

First Telephone In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell perfected his design for a technology that would allow him to communicate with someone in a different area. The first message over the phone was “Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you.” Click on Alexander Graham Bell to go back to the Main Menu.

Incandescent Light Bulb Thomas Edison patented the first incandescent light bulb in 1879. This invention has sparked an entirely new field of research which has been improved greatly with the invention of the LED bulb. Click on Thomas Edison to go back to the Main Menu.
