POPs Analytical Capacity Building Two SAICM QSP projects (approved in 4 th round) with Cuba (single-country) and Bahamas, Barbados, and Haiti (multi-country); Objective is training and capacity building of national POPs laboratories to enable them to actively participate in the global monitoring plan on POPs under the Stockholm Convention; Outcomes: –Countries aware of and capable to perform POPs analysis at international standards; –Countries contributing with their own data to the Global Monitoring Plan (GMP) and the effectiveness evaluation (art 16); –For Cuba: creation of the national monitoring network.

Monitoring Plan Two core matrices: Mothers’ milk collected in each country according to WHO protocol Ambient air with passive air samplers according to GMP protocol SAICM QSP projects are part of the regional UNEP-GEF GMP project in GRULAC and three regional GMP projects in Africa and the Pacific Air samplers to be shipped
