1 HENNING Positives: A business is recycling #10 cans and that is great. Over 1 ton of recyclables collected in one week. The bins had very little waste or non-recyclables in each container. The most total pounds of recycling of the five bins. Negatives: 2 pine wreaths, toaster, 2 electronics, 3 lbs. glass in the plastic, two burned oil filters, mattress pad, 66 lbs. of scrap metal, and 127 lbs. of garbage but one of the lowest of the 5 bins. Tips: Please use a refillable Keurig cup instead of K-cups because they cannot be recycled. 2 DUNVILLA Positives: Very little scrap metal or cardboard found in the bin. The paper bin had zero waste. There was NO HHW found. Negatives: 30 video covers that cannot be recycled, heating blanket, toilet seat and clam shell of donuts, 3 propane tanks and 3 metal pans did not belong in recycling bin. Tips: Culligan water bottles, clam shells and cottage cheese containers cannot be recycled in OTC. Plastic: 235 Tin: 59 Aluminum: 39 Glass: 656 Newspaper: 301 Office Paper: 17 Magazines: 43 Paperboard: 40 Garbage 127 pounds Scrap Metal: 1 Cardboard: 5 Recycling 1390 total pounds

3 PARKERS PRAIRIE Positives: Good recycling for one week-over one ton, one of the lowest rates of garbage in the recycling bins. Highest rate of recycling newspaper and magazines. Negatives: Large amounts of cardboard in the glass recycle bin, shredded paper not bagged, sharps in a bottle which is good but should be placed in the garbage not recycling bin; vacuum, lampshade, plastic table, and fan all found in the plastic bin, 3 propane tanks, lots of aerosols (about 20+), 21 lbs. of glass in the plastic bin. Tips: Always place shredded paper into a bag, empty aerosols are thrown away or if unused product remains taken to HHW. Sharps should not be placed into recycling. Plastic: 270 Tin 195 Aluminum 44 Glass 846 Newspaper 823 Office Paper 164 Magazines 254 Paperboard 66 Garbage 131 pounds Scrap Metal 29 Cardboard 53 Recycling 2662 total pounds

4 NEW YORK MILLS Positives: The paper bin had very little waste, in fact, only 1 bottle and 1 can. Paperboard was excellent-almost twice as much as other bins and lots of recycled magazines too. New York Mills recycled over 1 ton in one week. Negatives: About 200 pounds of garbage in the recycling. Approximately 1/3 of the plastic in the bin could not be recycled. (75+ flower pots, lots of clam shells, fast food cups, bags of plastic bags, Styrofoam, bubble wrap, packaging plastic) 20 lbs. of glass in the plastic, metal container had 30 lbs. of glass and 2 sump pumps. Fast food garbage bags in recycling bins. Tips: Recycle only #1 and #2 with a neck. No clam shells, flower pots, whipped topping, sour cream or margarine containers. Businesses can recycle #10 cans. Plastic: 414 Tin: 116 Aluminum: 76 Glass: 1030 Newspaper: 731 Office Paper: 138 Magazines: 183 Paperboard: 130 Garbage 197 pounds Scrap Metal: 67 Cardboard: 53 Recycling 2818 total pounds for two bins

5 ERHARD Positives: Paper was good with little garbage, one HHW found in the bin (button battery), most aluminum collected. Also, a lot of plastic is being recycled. Negatives: 122 lbs. of sheet metal in the metal bin, 2 very large bags of garbage in the metal bin, an entire gaylord of cardboard in the glass, bottle caps kept on the bottles, kitty litter in the plastic recycling, 7 propane containers, and aerosols in metal. Tips: No caps on bottles and put cardboard in the corrugated cardboard bin not the glass. Plastic: 326 Tin: 132 Aluminum: 78 Glass: 1215 Newspaper: 634 Office Paper: 9 Magazines: 65 Paperboard: 72 Garbage 204 pounds Scrap Metal: 148 Cardboard: 71 Recycling 2531 total pounds

6 SUMMARY Positives: On average more than 1 ton of materials is recycled each week. Negatives: 10% thrown into the bin is garbage. Educational Focus: Only recycle #1 and #2, bag shredded paper, keep glass free of other materials, do not throw garbage or non-recyclable items in the recycling. Plastic: 1562 Tin: 730 Aluminum: 278 Glass: 4877 Newspaper: 3230 Office Paper: 551 Magazines: 608 Paperboard: 396 Garbage 829 pounds Scrap Metal: 311 Cardboard: 214 Recycling 12,232 total pounds (averaged about 2446 pounds per container per week) Future Sorts: Measure garbage just from plastic to get a wish cycling amount.
