2 Burleson ISD Fire Protection Academy 2016-17 School Year – Cohort II Located at Burleson Centennial High School Enrollment open to all Burleson ISD 2016- 17,12 th Grade Students meeting program enrollment criteria Concurrent enrollment – dual credit program in partnership with Hill College

3 Fire Protection Program Organization Possibility of two sections daily Classes will be “triple blocked” Maximum enrollment of 25 students/section Section I – 1 st - 3 rd Periods (8:45 – 11:35) Section II – 6 th – 8 th Periods (1:30 – 4:15) Students will enroll in and attend one section

4 Fire Protection Program Organization If only one section, composition of the cohort will determine if it’s a morning or afternoon program Students will not transfer to Centennial High School Students will transport themselves to and from CHS daily for Fire Protection Program classes Program instruction will take place Monday through Friday

5 Fire Protection Program Organization Classes will follow the BISD calendar Students successfully completing the program will receive 3 high school elective credits Fire Protection Program classes are for Technical Credit and not weighted for GPA purposes

6 Fire Protection Program Requirements Cadet must be in his/her senior year of high school. Cadet must be eighteen years of age on or before June 1, 2017 (other options available, inquire for more information). Cadet must maintain an 80 average in Fire Protection courses throughout the program. Cadet must be able to participate in physical activities

21 Fire Protection Program Course Selection When students meet with their counselors, choose Fire Academy from the course selection menu Work with your counselor to insure there is room in your schedule (3 consecutive class periods) and also get all required credits to graduate If you are an athlete, band member, or JROTC choose the appropriate Fire Academy section (morning or afternoon) that will also allow you to still participate in your other extra-curricular program(s)

22 Hill College Enrollment Burleson ISD students who choose “Fire Academy” through Career Cruising course selection must complete all BISD-Hill College Dual Credit paperwork. Paperwork may be obtained from the following campus contacts: BHS- Brooklyn Christian-Shafer CHS- Sara Pair Hill College registration night will take place at the Hill College Burleson Center at a date to be determined – most likely in July or August 2016.
