The League Partner program endeavors to facilitate the relationship between California businesses, non-profit associations, labor communities, and other organizations and local government leaders from the state’s 482 cities by providing educational and networking opportunities that are mutually beneficial. The program:  Brings Partner resources to support the League’s strategic priorities and achieving its objectives  Sponsors and promotes the following programs : – California Civic Leadership Institute – Helen Putnam Awards – Educational sessions  Participates in the League’s policy process bringing a variety of voices to the discussion.

4.  In 2012, the League Partner program adopted a strategic goal of supporting the League’s ongoing efforts to build healthy and sustainable communities.  In cooperation with former League President,Mike Kasperzak, Mayor of Mountain View, and current League President Bill Bogaard, Mayor of Pasadena, the League Partners began to develop the Cities for Workforce Health program.

Presenter Bios Charlotte Dickson, MSW – Director, HEAL Cities Campaign Ms. Dickson is the Director of Local Policy for the California Center for Public Health Advocacy where she leads the Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Cities Campaign. The HEAL Cities Campaign has spurred over 140 California cities to adopt resolutions and policies to address access to healthy food and access to physical activity. Previously, while working for Contra Costa Health Services from 1998 to 2008, she directed a campaign to pass a comprehensive youth tobacco ordinance in 18 cities and the unincorporated areas of the county. Ms. Dickson received her MSW from Boston University.

Presenter Bios Kate Kessler, MBA – Director, Public Sector Strategy, Kaiser Permanente Kate Kessler has over seventeen years of experience in the healthcare industry with experience in Sales, Account Management, Business Development, and Marketing. She joined Kaiser Permanente in 1996 and was a part of the sales and marketing teams in Atlanta, Denver, and National Accounts before re-locating to San Diego in 2000. Kate held the position of Area Director of Account Management until 2007 when she moved into a consulting role focused on Kaiser Permanente Large Group strategy. In 2010, Kate moved into the position of Director, Public Sector Strategy for Kaiser Permanente California Regions and holds this position currently. Kate received her Bachelor of Science in Business from Virginia Tech and MBA from Georgia State University.

Presenter Bios Robin Rager, Ph.D., FAWHP – Director of Health Management, Keenan Robin has been involved in the health and wellness field for nearly three decades, both as a consultant and as a college professor and researcher. His consulting and academic activities have focused on individual and population health management, and the design and evaluation of effective wellness and disease management programs in a variety of populations and settings - ranging from health care systems to railroad workers to military personnel to farm workers. Prior to joining Keenan, he operated an independent consulting firm which provided health management services to businesses and health care organizations, including needs assessment, program design, marketing, online and onsite wellness services, and program evaluation. Robin holds a Ph.D. in Health Education, served as the Director of Penn State University's Center for Worksite Health Enhancement, and has authored numerous articles on wellness and disease management. He has been honored as a Fellow of the Association for Worksite Health Promotion (FAWHP), served as chair of the American Public Health Association's Worksite Health Promotion Committee, and participated in the development of the Healthy People Objectives for the Nation as a member of the Worksite Health Promotion Work Group.
