6 | Presentation title – 00/00/2012 What you will need to register To complete this process, you will need: 1.An active email account, an address you check regularly. Ensure it's appropriate, for example: Firstname.Lastname@msn.comFirstname.Lastname@msn.com 2. Home address / contact address including post code. 3.Contact number - add your preferred phone number (home, mobile or other) so you can be contacted about vacancies, interviews and next steps. 4.Username - choose an easy-to-remember one such as, ‘first name.last name’, between 8 and 20 characters long. 5.Password - choose an easy-to-remember one, with a mix of capital letters, lower case letters and numbers. It must be between 8 and 20 characters long. 6.An idea of what type of Apprenticeship / job role you wish to apply for.

Give examples of your hobbies and achievements and explain how these show your suitability. This will help you stand out from other candidates. 6.Your ethnicity.

When you complete the form, ensure you cover the key points. 2.Additional questions Some vacancies have additional questions, for example ‘Why have you applied for an Apprenticeship in IT?’ Spend time on your answers as this will help your application stand out. 3.Key points Put the most important points first to grab an employer’s attention. 4.Examples Give examples of situations where you’ve used relevant skills, for example, ‘As treasurer of the drama club, I looked after the club’s finances.’

Describing how your skills are relevant to the Apprenticeship and the organisation will help show you’re the right candidate. 4.Make sure you’re happy with your application as you can’t change it once you’ve sent it.

You can choose to receive emails or free text message alerts telling you what new Apprenticeship vacancies have been posted onto the website. To set up an alert, remember to first set up a favourite saved search. Setting up an alert means you’ll pick up any new vacancies that match your search criteria. When a relevant vacancy is added, you’ll get a message. Alerts are always sent to your ‘Message Board’.

If necessary, amend your email address in your profile. 2.Check the system has your correct mobile phone number. If necessary, amend your mobile phone number in your profile. 3.Follow the instructions on the screen and select continue. You will be sent an activation code to your mobile. Enter this in the activation code box within the My Alerts menu on the system and select enter.
