13 More than Monitoring  Historically, CIMS was a platform for districts and OSE to ensure that all state and federal requirements were met for all students with disabilities across the state.  The New System, however, will move beyond monitoring and include reports and activities from other units within OSE.  The September launch is focused on Parts B and C monitoring; however, future launches will include new work that has previously been done using different systems. 14 Improvement Focused  In addition to centralizing reports and activities from across OSE, the New System is focused on supporting improvement.  Over the next year, users will have access to improve data displays, best practices, and guidance from OSE.  OSE is committed to helping districts ensure compliance AND strong outcomes for students. 16 New Terminology  The New System: Again, name TBD. This refers to the CIMS redesign effort. By the time the New System launches, there will be a new name.  Corrective Action: Corrective Action Plans now refer to one piece of a broader corrective action requirement. (More on this later.)  Student Level Corrections: The new term for Student Level Corrective Action Plans, or SLCAPs.  __________ Coordinators: We’ll still have CIMS coordinators for all districts. 21 Corrective Action  Nearly half of districts will be required to complete a Corrective Action in the New System this September.  There will be some changes from the current CAP process.  Attend a webinar this September to learn more about how to complete this activity. 22 Student Level Correction  All districts receiving a B-13 (Secondary Transition) Corrective Action will also receive Student Level Corrections (SLCs).  Districts must:  Complete the prescribed required corrective action  Ensure that the record is now compliant  Submit documentation supporting correction  All student records must be corrected within 30 school days.  Attend a webinar this September to learn more about how to complete this activity. 23 New Terminology  Corrective Action: Previously called Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), corrective action describes the entire process for correcting noncompliance  Corrective Action Plan: This now refers to the plan that the district completes and submits detailing what the district will do to come into compliance. Plans may be prescribed by OSE, written fully by a district, or a combination of the two.  Student-level Correction (SLC): Previously called Student Level Corrective Action Plans (SLCAPs), SLCs are now issued to aid correction of all instances of student-level noncompliance.
