Supporting Sustainable Industries in India In 2015, India’s manufacturing growth by 4.6% because of improvements in investment conditions and growing demand vs 2.8% globally India became the 6 th among Top 10 World Leading Manufacturers in 2015 REF. International Yearbook of Industrial Statistics 2016 (UNIDO) Prerequisites for industry to flourish in a sustainable manner: -the availability of an assured supply of affordable and clean energy, together with improved resource efficiency; -the availability of matching skill profile and requirements for sustainable industries; -Transfer of best practices and knowledge management from in and outside of India. Meeting the Climate Challenge Industries and institutions - both public and private — need to be able to assess and understand climate change, design and implement adequate policies and work towards resource efficient societies and low emission growth. -“Decoupling” natural resource use and environmental impacts from economic growth; -Greening industries and creating green industries; -Supporting policy dialogues and strategies for establishing national road maps for greening the supply chain; -Developing benchmarks and indicators; -Introducing clean technologies and facilitating innovation; -Improving industrial energy efficiency by contributing to the transformation of markets for energy-efficient products and services; -Promoting sustainable energy solutions for making industries more productive and climate resilient, e.g., optimum use of renewable energy for industrial applications; -Devising viable financial scheme(s) for interventions for technology and innovation in partnership
